Trigger warning for- giving birth, Cross in pain and crying, Dream being kind and helpful I believe that is it but that is very short so please tell me if I'm wrong so I can fix it

Cross groans out in pain as he pushes. The shark mer was currently trying to give birth to his and his shiver's litter of pups.

He stops pushing and takes fast pants before trying again, only to cry out and stop again.

His shiver wasn't far from the cave entrance trying to watch but also trying to give him space.

"Cross," Killer started, attempting to get closer.

"We c-" Killer immediately froze when the other growled.

"Get away." Killer didn't take it to soul, he knew it was the hormones and Cross's instinct.

It takes a moment for Cross to try pushing again, making sure the others didn't get any closer.

He needed to protect his pups.

"Cross, what Killer was trying to say is that we can help you." Cross shook his head, he ground his teeth.

His stomach felt tight and he was very hot, he was so sure he was heating up the water around him. Every time he tried to push there was a sharp pain preventing him.

He yelped out after another failed attempt. He pants heavily, tears began to leak from his sockets from pain and frustration.

"O-okay please h-help." Cross whimpered pathetically.

All of them were about to move forward when Nightmare stopped him with his large tentacle.

"Only one of you should go, we don't want to overwhelm him or cause him any more panic." Dream nods agreeing, "Maybe we should ask him?"

"I don't think it matters to him," Killer says looking back at the shark mer who was in pain.

"Right well it may be best for him to sense Dream," Dust mumbled quietly. "He could be threatened by us."

"I'm just as strong as any of you, have you forgotten that I am a leviathan?" Dream rolls his eyes with a huff.

"We are mer sharks, he won't trust us because we could easily overpower him in this state and-"

"Now isn't the time to argue semantics, are we all in agreeance, Dream will go?" Nightmare interrupts. Everyone only nodded, Dream took a deep breath.

"We'll be here Dream." His brother reminds him, Dream nods before slowly approaching the cave.

"Cross I'm coming in, is that okay?" Cross whimpered trying to force down growls, by reminding himself that Dream was only going to help.

Dream finally made it safely inside and observed the shark before touching him. He frowns a little feeling bad for his mate being in pain.

"May I touch you Cross?"

"N-not the p-pups." Dream nodded adding a small 'Of course'.

He carefully took Cross's hand in his and rubbed it reassuringly. With his other hand, he gently felt down his chest to his belly, stopping where he could see a small bump. Cross growled his eye lights disappearing.

"Cross it's okay remember? I'm just going to help by pushing on them, then you can try to push them out. Is that okay?" Dream asked, he was sure Cross might feel better if he knew Dream's intentions.

Cross felt slightly bad he did want him to help but he needed he HAS to protect his pups.

Dream pushed down on his stomach, making sure it wasn't too hard. Cross gasps closing his eyes tightly. Dream rubs the others hand, and bumps his face with Cross's.

"It's okay, take a deep breath and push."
Cross does as he was told and took one large deep breath before closing his eyes and grinding his teeth with a pained groan as he pushed.

"Keep going Cross, I can see a pup," Cross whines pushing a little more before finally most of the pain disappeared.

"Great job Cross, that's one." Dream says bumping his face gently.

He let out quick pants before looking at his pup. Cross smiles before immediately feeling pain.

"It's okay, I've got you, keep pushing. You can do it Cross I know you can."

Cross takes a deep breath pushing as hard as he could, he yells out in pain.

"Dream?" Nightmare asked, Dream could hear the concern lacing his voice.
"It's okay!" Dream shouts to the others hoping to calm them. Dream rubs Cross's knuckles.

"It's okay, your doing so good." Cross squeezes Dream's hand at such a strength he feared it would snap.

While he pushes Dream gave him many praises, they don't go unnoticed but Cross was definitely not focusing on them.

Cross was one push away from giving birth to his second pup when he felt someone else near him other than Dream.

They wanted his pups. He needed to protect them. Cross pushed and the second pup joined the first in the nest. Once Cross took a deep breath he snapped at the intruder.

"Leave!" Cross roared at them. Again it was Killer, due to the fact they were so close Killer really wanted to make sure his mate was okay. And even see his pups.

"Killer, please... He could still have three more." Cross growled at Killer until he left, still not fully at peace.

Cross didn't feel safe even though he knew he was safe with his shiver, it was only his instinct.

Cross felt the pressure and pain build up he whimpered. He wanted to be done already, he didn't want to hurt anymore. He pushed before stopping with a yelp.

"Dream.." Cross whimpered, Dream looks over Cross.

"I-I can't do this I-" Cross let out a sob and again to cry.

He was tired, he didn't want to be snippy with his shiver mates, he wanted to be touched and comforted by them, and he wished it was over.

"Cross yes you can, you are so strong. We are so proud of you, you are doing so well." Dream praised, he nuzzled Cross's face lovingly.

"Just breathe and remember I'm here and so are the others. We will take care of you, it's going to be okay." Cross felt great comfort in the others words and began to push.

It hurt but he kept pushing, almost breaking Dream's hand but finally the third was out.

Cross kept his position waiting in case there was one more, but there didn't seem to be. Once they were sure Dream helped Cross to cuddle his pups.

"They look healthy." Dream comments smiling down at them. Cross smiles tiredly looking at them as well.

"Do they? I've never seen pups before now." Dream's eyes widen.

"Really? Well yes, they look healthy and they are very beautiful." Cross smiled and gently pet one of his pups.

"I'll leave you to get rest, when you wake up we'll bring you food okay?" Cross nods tiredly.

"Thank you, Dream." Cross yawned, Dream smiles leaving the cave.

"Your welcome Cross."
