it was the late afternoon hours, and the sheriff's son had come over to play video games. carl was relatively new to alexandra and it just so happened that you became his best friend. the two of you hung out all the time and were practically inseparable from one another. but there was something he didn't know about you.

if your secret got out you were afraid it might ruin the friendship. you liked carl, not a small like but one that could make your heart flutter whenever he was around. you knew it was wrong, he was your friend, and you shouldn't be having these types of feelings for a guy you had only met a couple weeks ago.

still, that didn't stop your heart from choosing him. though it hurt like hell, you've accepted that he would never like you in the same way you liked him. you grabbed ahold of the controller and moved the joystick where the character needed to be. it was a long, stressful game between you and him, both had very low hp and were running out of stamina pretty quickly.

you needed to win. you zoned into full concentration mode as you flicked the controls back and forth. for a moment, you thought you had him, but that was before he turned around and gave you the finishing blow. "dammit." you uttered under your breath as the word loser popped up on your end of the screen.

you turned to carl who had that winning smile plastered on his lips. the brunette chuckled at your minor outburst before setting down the controller. "that was a good game, we were both pretty low." he said, you cocked your eyebrow in his direction as those words left his mouth.

"shut up, now you're just trying to pity me," you said playfully with a small smile on your lips. he shrugged at your comment. "what can i say, you gotta get better at the game." he snickered. in response you just rolled your eyes, grabbing a pillow from your side of the couch and whacking him with it.

in retaliation, carl grabbed the pillow from the opposing side of the couch and swung at you. the pillow ended up hitting the spot next to you, just barely managing to dodge out of the way in time. now it was a full out pillow war. the two of you took opposite ends of the couch and started taking swings at one another.

you saw a golden opportunity and took it. however, before you could even get close, his pillow whacked your own sending it flying across the room. at that moment you realized you had to do something fast, so without thinking you pinned him down to the sofa with his hands halfway above his head.

silence flooded the room where only the faint sounds of heavy breathing could be heard. as you glanced at his shimmering ocean blue eyes you were overcome by strong emotions, you don't know what came over you. there was something in his eye, something that possessed you to do it. you kissed him, pressing your lips softly against his own as your grip on his wrists loosened.

the kiss was sweet as you took full advantage of the position. the small kiss lasted for what felt like forever before you backed off him. halfway mortified by your spur the moment decision to kiss your best friend, you blamed it on the fact that you weren't thinking clearly. the way he looked up at you made you regret everything that happened.

with a mixture of shock and confusion written all over his face. "sorry, i didn't mean to, i thought maybe you felt the same way, i know it's wrong for two boys but-" you were saying before being cut off. your eyes comically widened as his lips pressed firmly against your own.

butterflies fluttered in your stomach as your heart rapidly pounded in your chest. his lips were undeniably soft, it was like kissing a soft marshmallow. it came as a shock to you that he would reciprocate your feeling. as you backed away from the kiss you noticed the smile on his lips.

"you talk too much." he said before picking up the controller. as you were still trying to process what just happened, he was ready for another game. "how 'bout we go best out of three?" he asked, you nodded and picked up the controller like nothing had happened.
