you sat at the bar with a shot glass in your hand as you downed the potent liquid. it stung your throat as you slammed the glass back onto the table. "shit that's strong." the brunette girl sitting next to you placed her glass on the table with a thud.

maggie was the only reason you came to a place like this. you weren't much of a drinker, but with everything that's been going on in alexandria she figured you could use a drink or two. "didn't invite your little lover boy out to party?" you asked as a glass of booze was placed on the counter.

"nah, he's not much of a drinker," she answered, tracing her finger on the outside of the glass. a smile grew on his lips as her eyes flicked over to you. "speaking of lover boy, how's it going with daryl?" she asked to which you almost spat out your drink.

"no, no we're just friends," you answered. she gave you this look, cocking her eyebrow like she had no intention of believing you. "oh come on, i see the way the two of you look at each other." she added. you giggled to yourself, trying to hold your embarrassment back as your rosy cheeks flushed.

"stop it, no we don't." as those words left your mouth you struggled to keep a straight face as the ends of your lips curved upward. she gave a mocking mhm with a small grin on her lips. "you obviously like him." she cooed like a small child would taunt her friend about having a crush.

"what? do not." you could help but giggle at this surreal situation. sure the two of you hung out often but it was nothing more than a platonic friendship. actually, you had never considered being in a relationship with him. maggie was the first person to bring it up.

you knew everything about one another and shared secrets you would have taken to the grave. he follows you around from time to time when you run around town dropping stuff off. the two of you were practically inseparable. you like being around him, and just maybe you do like him.

"i didn't take you for a lightweight." maggie teased as she helped you walk down the dimly lit street. half asleep in a drunken haze you hobbled along as she tried to get you home without you injuring yourself. you groaned in annoyance, just wanting to lay down.

with her arm around you, the two of you walked up the front porch of your house. when you reached the top she came to a sudden stop. "look who we have here." you focused your gaze in the direction she was facing only to see daryl sitting outside your door.

he stood up with this confused look on his face. you on the other hand weren't thinking straight, and after that thing maggie said at the bar thats all you could think about was him. "look maggie, i-its a handsome man on my front porch." you said in a loud whisper, slurring your words.

"what did you do to her?" daryl's raspy voice spoke up. you were stuck with this love struck feeling in your chest like out of some cliché romance movie. maggie giggled, "she just drank too much is all." you tried to walk on your own, assuring the brunette that you could handle walking a few steps. as soon as maggie let you loose from her arms you fell into him causing her to laugh.

"i think you've got it from here, good luck," she said with a grin. your finger traced over his skin as you pressed your face into his shirt. "aye, can ya stand?" he asked as you clung to him for support. "of course i can silly." you say while wobbling, your legs felt like a jello mixture beneath your weight.

"you drunk out of your damn mind woman." he said, taking you in his arms. he lifted you off the ground, and for a moment you could have sworn you were flying. "come on let's get you inside." you giggled profusely as he held you tight to his chest, carrying you bridal style up to you bedroom. he figured it would be easier than you trying to climb them and ending up breaking an ankle.

he placed you on the covers and draped the soft blanket over your body. you roll over and groan, shutting your eyes tightly to block out the deadly beams of light. you heard his footsteps begin to walk away from your bedside. "daryl what about a goodnight kiss?" you whine.

"nah, i ain't doin' that." he answered in his usual monotoned voice. "please, i can't go to sleep without one," you say with a smile. he lets out an annoyed groan as he made his way back over to the bed, quickly placing a small kiss on your forehead before pulling away.

he knew that's not what you meant. as he hovered over you, your orbs filled to the brim with need. mimicking a sad puppy when it doesn't get what it wants. thats all it took to push him, he landed his lips on yours. placing a bit of pressure as you melted into the heartwarming sensation.

soon after he backed off, leaving a strange lingering sensation on your lips. you giggled at his calm demeanor. "the handsome man kissed me." you slurred your words, bringing a small curve to his lips. "i must be the luckyest girl on earth." you say snuggling up to the pillow that rested above your head.

all the while daryl watched for a moment as you tossed and turned, trying to get into a comfortable position. some part of him thought it was cute, the way you flipped over with this adorable expression on your face. "goodnight (y/n)." he flicked off the light and left the darkened night to consume your room.
