Melina's pov

Once we got everyone and everything packed up we made our way back to the prison.

Glenn used a pair of bolt cutters and cut a whole in the fence. Rick held it open so that way everyone could get through.

I get through the fence and saw walkers in the other side of the fence in the courtyard.

The plan was for Glenn, Beth, and Maggie to go to the farm side of the fence and distract as many walkers as they can while everybody else shoots from the guard towers.

My job was to stay with Lori as she opened the gate for Rick to run through.

It took about maybe an hour before the whole courtyard was safe. Everyone started celebrating.

I walked over to Cash, Rose, Dave, and Carl. Carl gave me a kiss and the others gave me a small hug.

"I hope we can make this place safe." I whispered to Carl as I wrap my arms around him and placing my head on his chest.

"I do too." He said wrapping his arms around me. I smiled and we joined the others.

Later that night we took the meat that we had and cooked it over a small fire.

Beth and Maggie started singing, when they were through everyone clapped. Then Cash turned to me with a smirk.

"Mel, it's your turn to sing. Remember it's tradition." He said and I let out a sigh.

I was sitting in between Carl's legs with my back leaned against his chest as his hands laid on my growing bump.

"Ok, only cause it's "tradition"." I said smiling. And with that I started singing the first song that came into my head.

When I was through everyone looked to be in thought. This whole song described everything that we've been through.

Not too long after we were done eating everyone went to sleep. I fell asleep cuddling with my husband and a small smile on my face. Things were starting to look up.

Maybe I could protect my group. Maybe I can help build a safe place for us. Those were the last of my thoughts before I fell into a deep slumber.
