I texted one of my non-single friends on how to know that a girl is 'the girl to be your girlfriend'. God, that sounded desperate. But he asked me who I liked, I refused, because I knew he would tell Aurielle in a heartbeat. He just said make a list of what you like about her and what you don't like about her. If there's more you like about her, she's right. If you have more dislikes, she's probably not right for you. I went over from my bed to my desk, and got my green "Aurielle Kanfold <3" journal from my drawer, which was hidden under lots of pens, pencils, and old notebooks filled with drawings. I grabbed a orange colored pencil from the top layer in the drawer, and jumped back onto my bed.
I opened to the next blank page, and wrote "Aurielle-The Good And The Bad" at the top.
Just then, my dad walked into my room.
"Hey, kid. Whatcha doing?" he asked me. Crap. I was caught again. He walked over to me before I could explain. "Ohr e elle...Alex, who's Ohr e elle?" He said her name wrong. I hated when people do that.
"Umm...just a girl, no big deal. And it's Auhr-e-elle, like how Sebastian in The Little Mermaid. At least that's what she tells everyone." I responded back, frantic. God, I'm an idiot. My dad took the journal and looked at the front, with Aurielle's name in tan sharpie and a purple sparkly heart sticker I stole from my little sister about 2 years ago.
"Aurielle Kanfold...I see wittle Awex has a wittle cwush!" my Dad is so embarassing.
"No I don't!" I snatched the journal from my dad and clutched it close to my chest. "Okay, maybe I have a little bit of a crush. Not a big one though." I finally gave in and told my dad. Isn't that what you're supposed to do?
"Well all I'm gonna say is good luck." Well that was nice.
"Thanks...I guess?" I respond back. Once my dad leaves, I close my bedroom door and go over to the vent. I know he's gonna tell my mom, and since my sister, Elyse, is such a good eavesdropper, she'll know too. I put my ear up to the cold metal, lying on the floor.
"Sharri! Alex actually likes a girl!" My dad was talking to my mom in the kitchen, it wouldn't of been clear enough if she wasn't. I could smell the meatballs she was making for dinner.
The noise of the wooden spoon hitting the metal pot stopped. "Wait, he does?" Was my mom really that shocked?
"Wait, Alex has a girlfriend? Alex has a girlfriend! Alex has a girlfriend!" Elyse ran around the kitchen in her plastic princess dress up high heels. Ugh, I hated the noise those things made against the hardwood.
"Ellie, please be quiet." my mom told Elyse. Everyone in my family calls Elyse "Ellie", but I think if your name is Alex, you should be called Alex, not Al or Lex. My given name is Alex, not Alexander, as everyone thinks it is. "Who is it, Marc?" my mom asked my dad.
"Umm...I think her name's Aurielle, Ariel, Aerie, I don't know." Dad, you just talked to me 5 minutes ago and you already forget? I got up off the floor and back onto my bed. I grabbed the colored pencil and continued with my goal-making a list of pros and cons about Aurielle.
Pros- Nice, pretty, smart, adorable, never mean, single, beautiful, witty
Cons-
I sat there for at least 10 minutes thinking about cons. Then I thought of something.
Cons-She's not mine
