(This chapter as well as the next take place between Escaping expulsion and Echoes of the past)

As long as anyone could remember Hexside's library had a mysterious statue in about the center of the library. It was said to be of the school's founder, but oddly enough the statue had little to no features. The statue had the vague appearance of your typical witch more masculine than feminine with a cloak covering much of the head and hiding the face. One arm was to the side holding on to a vague looking staff, his palisman was an indeterminable creature. The other arm held a book aloft open to around the middle of the book as though they were in the process of reading it. The whole statue was raised on a large stone pedestal with a plaque on the side the statue faced. The plaque just read Hexside's founder with the name being illegible. Many students over the years have asked the question who he was. This included Hexside's first human student Luz Noceda.

Luz's POV:

It was my first day back since Amity's Mom had Gus, Willow and I expelled briefly. I was at my locker, a sort of cyclops storage space that stored everything in their mouths, grabbing my things for my next class, potions. I was also chatting with Willow, when Viney, Jerbo, Barkus, and Amity came running up to us. Viney, Jerbo, and Barkus are my fellow multitracks that I initially met in the detention track, long story. Amity I met well before them on the day I first saw Hexside, also a long story.

"Luz, *huff puff*" Viney said, grabbing my arm while the others were panting. "We were in the library studying when something odd happened."

Flashback Viney POV:

We were seated at a table near the weird statue of the school founder. I say weird because you can't really make details out about him. Asking any of the teachers they say the Statue kind of just appeared one day, and that it was Principle Bump's mentor. He doesn't answer any questions about him other than he has been dead for a very long time. I don't know how accurate the teachers are with the whole it just appeared one day either bump says it has always been there.

The statue itself had a cloak on that went down to his feet. Most of us presume that they are a witch since the face is covered up by most of the face including. He had an arm outstretched holding an ambiguous book, it was open and it looked as though they were in the process of flipping the pages. He seemed to be reading from the book. The other arm held a staff of an equally ambiguous nature to his face.

Anyway Barkus, Jerbo, and I were sitting at a table next to the statue and were just talking about our tracks. Suddenly the statues book pages settled into place and the eroded plaque had clear writing on it. Barkus was the one to point it out to me and Jerbo.

"Woof!" He said pointing to the Plaque.

"What the hell?!" I said at about the same time as Jerbo.

I walked up with Barkus and Jerbo behind me and read the Plaque "It says 'May the person who defeated Grometheus the fear Bringer solve my riddle''' I read aloud.

          "Bark!" Barkus said.

"Barkus is right Luz and Amity are the one who beat him this year. Maybe it means one of them." Jerbo said.

"We need to go find them and show them now!" I said, grabbing Barkus in one scoop and pulling Jerbo along behind me to find you two.

End Flashback Luz's POV:

"We ran into Amity shortly before we found you," Viney said.
