I come out of sleep in the same position I slept in -the same position I woke up in yesterday morning. In Loki's arms.
But today is different.
Honestly, it scares me. At this point, trusting someone terrifies me. I've given too much in the past to my family, even to friends, but I always end up hurt and alone.
I want to trust. I want to give Loki a chance because he seems really dedicated to earn it. In my hundreds and hundreds years of life, this is the first time someone insists so much to be in my life. By my side.
I just don't want to end up wounded again. I have a lot of walls to bring down, so I hope he has the patience to do it.
What if he doesn't make it? What if he leaves half way? What if--
I close my eyes again and I bring my head to Loki's chest. I let the sound and feeling of his heartbeat take away this little voice in my head.
As soon as I move, he inhales deeply and tightens his grip around me. Still with eyes closed, he starts rubbing my arm as he works on fully waking up.
"This is nice" I admit
"It is indeed" he replies, his voice raspy.
"Loki?"
"Mhm..." he replies
"Today is the first time that I am angry at myself for trying to push someone away from me. I'm sorry for last night. I might not know where we'll end up, but I don't feel like pushing or running away right now. And I promise I will try and put my trust issues aside for you. I will try my best, Loki"
"And I am sorry if I pushed you too much. But I'm happy to hear that you want to try" he kisses my head
"I can't guarantee anything" I add
"I don't need you to".
This is probably the first time someone trusts me and believes in me so much.
The nice moment gets interrupts by the door opening. Immediately, I dig my head and Loki throws the covers over me in perfect synch. It is probably obvious that I'm under the blanket, but the important thing for now is hiding my face.
"I believe mother taught us to knock" Loki says
"Where were you last night?" I recognize Thor's voice
"With company. Company who would clearly appreciate if strangers didn't burst in the room while we are naked!" he argues
"I didn't know you had company"
"Get out"
"Mother is expecting you at breakfast" Thor says and I hear the door close.
Loki takes the covers off and I let out a breath of relief. "It's already getting complicated, but hiding also feels thrilling" I admit.
Loki smiles and kisses my lips. He holds my face and deepens the kiss. I smile against his lips.
"They're waiting for you" I remind him
"I don't care" he replies, pushing me down on the bed again and mounting over me. "I'd rather be here" he adds and kisses me again
I relax and I let him continue. I wrap my arms around his neck to keep him close. For the first time, the kiss is slow. Loki's lips and tongue dance against mine with no rush. He is taking his time, enjoying every second of it and so am I.
I had no idea I could feel words and emotions through a kiss. This is the first time I'm experiencing this, and the unknown scares me. But I'm already in it now. I'll back down if I overthink it.
So I push all the thoughts away and I focus on Loki. It's unbelievable how quickly he can make me forget everything that bothers me at any moment.
We hear loud banging from the door again. Loki sighs and drops his head. "I'm going to kill him" he threatens
"You know where to find me if you need a hand with that. I mean Thor is a pretty big guy..." I notice
"I feel like there is a hidden insult along with that offer"
"Me insulting you? Of course not" I chuckle ironically.
He shakes his head and kisses me one more time before climbing off me. Within the next couple of minutes, he is already dressed and ready to leave. He tells me to stay in the room and do whatever I want while he is at breakfast, since it is too risky to sneak me out at the moment.
I decide to take a very long bath in his bathroom. I open and sniff all the small bottles he has in there as the tub fills. I identify quickly his favorite cologne and then his shampoo. I also find a set of floral scented shampoo and lotions.
A hint of jealousy spreads in my chest. Was there another woman taking baths here? I convince myself it doesn't matter and I move on.
By the time I am done, there are new clothes for me laid on the dresser and a breakfast tray waiting for me on the bed. I smile to myself. I can definitely get used to these services.
Staying wrapped in Loki's towel, I sit on the bed and I try a bite of everything there is on that breakfast tray.
That moment, Loki returns in the room. "I got back as soon as I could" he says
"Mm... You're just in time" I reply, while still chewing my last bite
"I send you a bit of everything hoping you'd like something" he admits
"They're all great. This is my favorite though, reminds me of sweetbread. And it would be even better with some jam on it"
"I'm glad you like it" he smiles.
He extends his hand towards me and runs his fingers through my hair as he brings me closer to him. He connects our lips softly, causing a tingle to travel down my spine.
He places the softest kiss on my mouth, and leaves the sweetest taste on my tongue.
"Stay for one more day" he suggests
"Honestly, I want to. But I gotta get back. I haven't been to the office in a few days and I need to get things back up and running before they sink" I explain. "You could join me if you'd like" I add
He smiles "I thought you'd never ask".
He kisses me again and I get up to get dressed. Loki doesn't take his eyes off me for a second which I enjoy more than I'd like to admit.
I almost wonder how much I can make him do for me. Discovering that sounds interesting and exciting.
