Billie had been hiding in the bathroom when she heard the loud bangs on the door.

"If you think hiding in there is going to get you out of trouble, think again!"

Billie put her head between her knees as she cowered. She had gotten a 'B' on a math test and her parents were pissed. She didn't want to face them so she had ran to the bathroom and locked it when her mom had found her test.

"Get out of the bathroom right now and go study Billie! I won't let you embarrass us like that again." Her mother had shouted.

"Don't be a coward and face the consequences Billie," her father said sternly.

More loud bangs on the door. Her father was losing his patience. The sounds were making Billie jump.

"I will break down this door if you don't come out in 3, 2, 1," her father had counted down angrily.

Billie opened the door. Her mother slapped her. Hard.

It was the first time she had done so, usually they just yelled at her. Billie was shocked.

"You hide from us again and you'll get more than just a slap to the face,"

Her mother had said.

Billie cried herself to sleep that night, making the decision to finally run away. She began planning it in her head.

The next day Billie had been so lost in her thoughts trying to figure out where she could even run away to that she slammed right into someone. She would have fallen to the ground if it hadn't been for strong hands steadying her.

"Are you okay?"

"I'm so sorry"

They both said simultaneously. Billie looked up to meet the prettiest doe eyes she had ever seen in her life.

"Yes, I'm okay." She had said breathlessly. Hands were still holding her steady.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to run into you." Billie finished.

The girl smiled at her softly as she grabbed Billie's backpack and picked up the books that she had been holding that were now on the ground.

"Where's your class?"

Billie pointed towards her classroom in a daze.

The girl started walking holding Billie's stuff towards the classroom. Noticing Billie wasn't following she turned back.

"Come on, you'll be late." The girl had smiled as she said so.

Billie found it hard to unfreeze from her spot.

It was lunch time and Irene was telling everyone at the table about how Mr. Lee had almost caught himself on fire during chemistry. Billie wasn't really paying attention. She was spaced out, still thinking through her plan of running away.

A beautiful laugh knocked her from her thoughts. The girl from before was in the cafeteria line, joking with the lady serving her. Billie vaguely wondered why she hadn't met this girl before, she would have remembered if she had. She was so pretty Billie thought.

Billie didn't realize she was staring until Irene shook her out of her daze.

"Billie? Where'd you go dude?"

Billie noticed everyone had gotten up already.

"Crap, sorry. I spaced out."

Doe eyes met her own as she got up, bringing her tray with her. The girl smiled at her. Billie smiled back shyly.
