Yohan woke up the next day to the absolute worst hangover of her life.
She saw Zoe was on the couch, awake already, repeatedly dialing a number. She looked like she was about to tear her hair out.
Zoe's heart skipped a beat when the line clicked.
"Babe! I— "
"Stop calling me Zoe, I'm still mad!" The line went dead.
"Fuck!"
The blonde had yelled so loudly into the phone that even Yohan had heard it from the bed. She tried clearing her throat before speaking, her throat felt like sandpaper.
"Why is Drew mad at you?" She said hoarsely, her voice coming out a little muffled because of the pillow she had thrown over her face, it was entirely too bright in here.
"Oh look, mighty Yohoney is finally awake." Zoe rolled her eyes. She was still so frustrated about the whole thing. She had just wanted to fix things.
"You didn't answer my question."
"She's mad that I didn't call her when I landed, she was really worried."
"Why didn't you just call her though? That doesn't sound like you. You're completely whipped over her." Yohan mumbled again.
Zoe would have made some snarky remark if she wasn't so sad about the whole situation. There's nothing in the world she hated more than upsetting her chipmunk.
"I was going to. I needed a little liquid courage before I called though. I guess I might have gone a little overboard with you because I was so nervous about it so I passed out before I could."
"I still don't understand." Yohan heard a deep sigh coming from the couch.
"I lied to her. I told her I was on a business trip. It's really, really hard to lie to Drew so I just put the call off. You know how bubbly she is, she would have asked a million questions about what I was doing and how everything was and I really didn't want to lie to her more than I already had to."
Yohan gingerly sat up, it made her head throb. "Ouch, that hurts."
"Good, serves you right," Zoe grumbled. Yohan glared at her.
"I still don't get why you lied to her though. Why would you even tell her you were on a business trip when you're clearly not." None if this was making sense to Yohan.
"Because of you, you idiot. They've all been miserable, I told you. I didn't want to get their hopes up if I couldn't drag you back home. It would have just hurt them more. They're barely hanging on as it is."
There was a long pause before Yohan could speak.
"Zoe, I can't go back, not yet." She said brokenly.
Zoe wanted to cry, or slap her, she wasn't sure. Instead she just held her head in her hands and grumbled at herself. Internally facepalming herself again. This shouldn't be this hard. She sighed and grabbed her phone again, dialing a number instead.
"Hey Louis....yeah, she's up. Don't worry, she's okay thanks to you guys."
"I know but still. Thank you. Not many people would agree to help a random stranger in the middle of the night without hesitation like you guys did."
"Anyway, I was just calling to ask if you know of any good places around here that make good hangover soup?"
"That's perfect, I think thats near here. You guys should join us. My treat."
"Okay, bye, meet you there in 30."
Yohan listened to Zoe's half of the conversation in confusion.
"Who was that?"
