Chapter Twelve - Be my forever?

Dan had given me his jacket as we walked through Central Park.

"So, they day I left was kind of...a cliffhanger ." I laughed "But I was sat on the plane and I wrote you a letter, it's back home. Anyway when I reached Paris and was driven to my apartment all i could think was I wish you were here. But as much as I wanted you here I know I needed to grow up a little more. It was all going great until I heard that Chuck was missing and right then all I wanted was you."

"I heard your message."

"I hurt when you didn't call back." I admitted to him

"I know. But I was scared, In a space of a moment I had this huge responsibility and while I didn't talk to you I could imagine just for a second that this wasn't my life. I didn't want to burst that bubble because then I would just think the worse. Even when you called I just didn't want to accept the fact that it might be over." he told me

"But I don't want it to be."

"neither do I." he replied then took a deep sigh "I have a confession to make." He started 

"The day you left, I went home and everything just felt empty. Not having you there was so weird and something hit me. How stupid i was being. I went to book my flight and that's when Georgina showed up pregnant saying it was mine. I was devastated because the one thing I wanted to do I couldn't anymore. And while losing Milo broke my heart he made me realise I don't want to lose another person."

"What are you talking about?" he stopped us

"I'm talking about this." he got down on one knee and pulled out a small box

"Oh my god." 

"Rosalie Amalia Evelyn Bass, will you marry me?" he asked me

"You're serious?"

"Completely."

"Yes, yes I will marry you." he took the ring out of the box and slipped it onto my finger. He then stood up a kissed me, twirled me around. When he put me down we pulled apart.

"Took me long enough." he commented and I laughed hiding his cheek in my hand

"I love you." I whispered

"I love you."

"The next morning I was awoken by Dan giving me chaste kisses. I groaned and my eyes fluttered open. I smiled

"Morning." I mumbled.

"Good morning." He whispered "I've made you breakfast." he pulled back allowing me to sit up. Once I was in a upright position, he placed a tray of waffles, berries and a glass of orange juice.

"Thank you." I pulled him in for another kiss then began to eat my breakfast "So when do you want to tell our family and friends about our engagement?" I wonder

"How about this afternoon before anything is posted on Gossip girl. To be honest I'm quite surprised. She hasn't posted anything."

"I am grateful, I want us to be the ones to tell people. Maybe I could strike a deal." I hummed thoughtfully.

"What kind of deal?"

"Give us say week to tell people and she get's exclusive right's to officially break the news to everyone else.That's assuming she already knows"

"Here or at the family apartment?" He wondered

"Here, we now have the space to accommodate everyone now." Dan nodded and took my hand that held my engagement ring and kissed it. I grinned the fed him a strawberry.

That morning I made a few calls after talking with Dan, I also messaged GG asking her to hold off on breaking the news. I owed her one which seemed fair. I organised a family/friends dinner. There was a knock on the door and I answered it.

"Chuck." I beamed "Come in, where's Eva?" I asked as we sat down?"

"Eva is gone." he told me "Gone for good."

"Oh, Chuck what happened?"

"Blair convinced me of a lie she made up. I didn't realise till it was too late." he took my hand in his "I am at war sister."

"War? With Blair."

"She took one of the most important people away from me. No limits, no end." he stated his fingers ran over my engagement ring he lifted my hand up "What's this."

"That's an engagement ring. Dan proposed." I told him

"He proposed?"

"Last night, that's the announcement, we're telling everyone tomorrow." He cleared his throat

"Con...Congratulations. I'm happy for you."

"Thank you." I smile softly "Chuck, are you sure you want to do this. I know you still have feelings for Blair."

"Any feelings I had vanished when she took Eva from me." I sighed and nodded. I took his cheek in my hand.

"It won't help, brother. A war with Blair will be different compared to anyone else."

"It won't stop me."

"Then will you at least wait, I want the both of you here tomorrow."

"For you and only you."

The following evening as everyone arrived I was careful as to not show off my ring just yet. Once everyone was here I tapped a glass and everyone became quiet. I took Dan's hand, he smiled down at me.

"Uh, Thank you everyone for coming. Including Jenny and mom via video chat" Dan began and I glanced at the laptop which had Jenny and Alison from Hudson"Rosie and I have a special announcement to make. I'm not one for speeches so I guess we'll just tell you."

"We're engaged." we announced. There was exclaims of congratulations as I held up the hand that I'd been trying to hide. Our friends and family too turns to personally congratulate us as well as give us a hug
