Chapter Forty Three - Sly digs

I get dressed for the day, then jog downstairs where Dan is already making breakfast. I kiss him on the cheek can pour two cups of coffee. I glanced at my phone and saw I had a missed call from Vanessa. I ignored it and set up for breakfast.

"Vanessa keeps calling me for some reason." I tell him as he set two plates out and sits down

"Have you called her back?" he wondered

"She's your best friend and do you want me to call her back?" I retorted

"No." I shrug

"So there is an exhibit of Joseph...Joseph ugh the last name's escaped me, the one that in your subscription to the New York times. But then Blair texted and asked if I wanted to go shopping with her today. If you wanna join."

"No thank you, shopping for you is a sport."

"Well there is the party tonight, do you want me to pick something up for you?" My phone beeped

Lily needs us now! -Chuck

"Oh no." I drop my fork. "I need to go."

"Is everything okay?"

"Chuck just texted me, Mom needs us. I will call or text when I know more." I gave him a quick kiss "I love you."

"Love you too!" He called as i ran off.

The door opened and i thanked Vanya as i rushed to the elevator. I stepped out a couple of minutes later. Chuck and Mom were waiting

"I'm here, what's going on?" I breath. Moms stand up and shows me the jump suit on a hanger.

"Who sent you that?" i ask

"Someone who know's about Ben is trying to send a message." she told me

"I think it's Russell. I spoke with him this morning. He told us our victory party was premature." he gestured to the orange jumpsuit

"And if he knows he'll use it to kill the deal. Threaten to go public."

"He's fishing right. I mean if he had the actual proof there won't be the need to do this. So are we thinking he got to someone? There is only a handful of people."

"I did suggest Ben."

"But that seems unlikely since we've seemed to resolve our issues."

"I'm gonna talk to Serena. Go about your day and I will talk to you two later." I went to say something but she stopped me "I'll be okay I promise and i'm sorry." The two of us left and we stood in the elevator.

"How is life..."

"Not interested." I tell him "The only reason I came is because of Mom." He huffs out a long breath and stops the elevator.

"What are you doing?"

"We need to talk, how long is this going to go on for. I made a mistake, I apologised and I'm so close to making it right."

"Do you really think that saving the company is going to make up for the fact that you iced me out in the first place, all so you could almost sell to Russell fucking Thorpe. I could have done that if you let me but oh no, your Chuck Bass, you think you know better. That's ballocks."

"Rosie, you're my sister."

"Like that means anything to you, you're so full of resentment for me, for Dad for anyone who doesn't bow down to your whims. You didn't seem to care when you were gonna change your name and disappear. You didn't care to even call when you recovered from your mugging no muggins here had to find out from some else. This is not something that you can fix like that anymore." I set the elevator going again we arrived at the lobby and I stormed out.

I was shopping with Blair, I needed this, like seriously.

"So I was thinking of telling people that I'm now friends with Dan." Blair tells me as we come out go Chloe's

"Why it's not that big of a deal, besides I doubt anyone will care."

"About me being nice with Dan Humphrey of course they will."

"No they won't they'll just presume that you're spending time with me and during that time you've finally realised he's not that bad, well he's a saint compared to some people. Charles on the other hand is like a bad penny."

"What's been going on?" she wondered

"He thinks that by getting this deal to close, it will automatically make everything better but it doesn't. And that by apologising I could forgive but I've just done that many times. not this time." I shake my head "I've had enough."
