Next day when Meera woke up, she felt very uneasy and she was getting lost in her thoughts hence she decided to visit the nearest Krishna temple to calm her mind.
There she prayed to God and sat for almost 1 hour on the staircase. This temple was of great significance in her life. Whenever she is stressed, only her Krishna ji can help her calm her mind and thoughts.
When Meera was just a kid, she would stare at a photo hung on the front wall of her playroom which was of Lord Krishna for hours. Hence her mother decided to name her as Meera - devotee of lord Krishna.
Soon it was lunch time & she came to Rupal's house today as her aunt had invited her to eat lunch with them. Soon, Rupal will leave for London for her further studies hence Meera was trying her best to spend maximum time with her.
After eating delicious dhokla & uthappam (south Indian dishes) both the girls went to Rupal's room to catch up on their talks.
Rupal jumps on her bed settling in looks at Meera raising eyebrows and twitching them in questioning manner
"What?" Meera askes her, sitting on the couch near Rupal's bed. Rupal shrugs her shoulders and asks "Meeru di, do you think I am blind? I know something is off by judging your body language. I want to know whatever that is going on in your mind"
With a deep breath & sighing Meera moved to bed and laid beside Rupal. "Rup, only one thing is bothering me from yesterday and that is your arrogant Jiju."
"Why do you say this? What did he do now?" Rupal sat up eager to know the details.
"Akshad is angry with me. He sent me this yesterday." Meera showed the message to Rupal. Reading that Rupal put one hand on her head and asked "Are you kidding me? Why did you ignore him yesterday? You know right that Jiju hates when things do not go as per his plan."
Feeling upset with Rup's question, Meera turned her face away from Rupal and closed her eyes pretending to sleep.
"Meeru di, do not ignore me. I know it was not 100% your fault. But you need to understand how he must be feeling. Yesterday only you got engaged and ignoring your fiance will do no good to you both." Like 40-year-old aunty Rupal kept giving advice. "I suggest you bake a delicious cake and make it up to him"
Rupal got up and went to her desk after a few minutes of surfing on her laptop she tugged Meera to get her attention, Rupal showed one cake recipe to her.
"Di, why don't you bake this cake for Jiju and bring that to his office."
Thinking positively about this, Meera agreed and both the girls went to the kitchen. After 3 hours a beautiful cake was sitting in a pretty box ready to reach Mr. Akadu.
Suddenly Meera got nervous but it was too late. Now that the cake was made and lots of time, efforts invested now was not the time to be a coward. She took the cake and bid farewell to Rupal & her aunt. After dropping off the parcel and the gift that she bought on the way, she went home to get ready.
At Akshad's office "Akash Pvt Ltd",
Akshad came back to his cabin after an important meeting & saw a delicious cake on his table. On the cake was written – 'To My Betrothed' and a note was kept beside it with a box on it. Upon opening the box he found the latest launched model of Rolex watch. A smile crept on his face, he kept the watch aside and opened the note.
Dear Akshad,
I am sorry that I could not be with you yesterday and could not visit the place you wanted to take me. But I feel it would have been inappropriate to leave our own engagement ceremony.
This cake is a token of apology. If you still want to show me that special place you will find me at 8:00pm sharp standing right in front of your office building.
Truly Yours, Meera
Reading this note Akshad felt a pleasant feeling in his heart but he could not express in words that giddy feeling which arises in him whenever he meets Meera.
He finished the cake in no time. Even shared a few bites with his staff and of course Mr. Verma loved it so much that he told his boss that whenever he will meet Meera, he needs to kiss her hands for making such a delicious cake.
Akshad ignored his overreacting personal assistant and before 8 pm he finished all the important work on his schedule.
He went to the basement and drove his car out of office premises and saw a captivating sight.
Meera was standing there trying to keep her saree in place as slowly the night breeze was messing with her saree plates and her hairs. "So gorgeous, all mine" he muttered before parking right beside her.
As Meera saw him coming out of the vehicle, she went to him with a sweet smile. Like a gentleman Akshad opened the door for her to get in. After a silent ride of 20 min in which Meera was speaking to him once in 2-3 min when he caught her staring, she would blush. They reached a two-storey row house.
"Come on, let me show you my dream place." Confused but curious, Meera quickly followed him inside the house. "What is this place?" she asked him politely, taking in the massive duplex. "Meera, this place is just not a house or property. It is my dream. I always thought when I marry someone then we shall live in this house."
Going on the terrace he continued "I have not done interior decoration yet because I want to decorate this house with my life partner and make lots of memories here as a married man.
"Hearing this and following him around the house Meera finally understood why this house was so important that he wanted to show this to her yesterday only. Maybe this was an engagement gift as this felt like a dream to her.
She never wanted a bungalow or a small flat, this property was all she wished for.
The property was a duplex which has a small backyard, one swimming pool situated on the terrace, 5 bedrooms in total , one large kitchen and a spacious living room. What else could a girl wish for? After the house tour they both went to a nearby dinner plaza.
"So, what do you think of the property?" Akshad asked her, his eyes hopeful like a kid asking his parents if he could eat an ice cream for the rest of his life.
With a big smile on her pretty face Meera replied to Akshad, also she placed her hand on his as a token of assurance "Your choice is best. I love how spacious the house is and even has a backyard where I can have my own vegetable garden. Truly that place is all I wished for as a kid. I would love to do the décor with you"
"Soon that property will feel like home, thank you Meera for accepting my dream. You made me the happiest person" Akshad said squeezing her hand
"Yes, Our Home!" Meera muttered under her breath but Akshad heard it and he felt an urge to hug her but he controlled his thoughts.
After dinner,
Akshad dropped her to her house. He thought he would give a small kiss to Meera before saying goodnight but seeing Mrs Rashi sitting on the porch waiting for Meera, he cursed his bad luck. After dropping her he went to his house and started to complete pending paperwork for his upcoming projects.
With a peaceful ending to this stressful day and with lots of dreams about the future the to-be couple went to sleep.
