My Ambitious Bride (EDITED VERSION)

8. Where Is She?

Meera was so stressed and angry when she arrived at a nearby park. She started drinking the takeaway coffee she bought on her way. She kept wondering how fast her life went from peaceful to chaotic.

She thought to herself "Was it his fault really? Am I making things unnecessarily difficult for my family?" Needing some advice she called her best friend Rita. Rita was the person who knew her well inside-out and is the only person who will understand her at this point.

But unfortunately Rita was traveling to some other town hence her phone was unreachable. Hence she had to keep her thoughts clouded up in her mind.

Soon, time went by and it was 9 pm. It is the time for the park to close hence Meera decides to go for a walk randomly. Thoughts had been running in her mind about marriage, Akshad's behavior, her family's well-being and soon she was getting a headache from all these and after a few minutes of restlessness she collapsed on the bench just outside someone's house and fainted.

On the other hand, Rupal was worried about her sister as it was 10:30 and by now Mrs Sharma was starting to doubt what Rupal had told her about Meera.

"Rup, do not lie to me. Where is your sister?"

"I told you Aunt, she had to go to the office. She must be on her way home"

"But what about Dinner? Should I store some for her or not?"

"Aunty you worry too much, just keep some in the fridge. She had forgotten her phone home hence I also don't know about this."

"Okay I am going to sleep now. Wake me up when she arrives" Mrs Sharma said with a stern look and went to her room.

Rupal instantly went to the porch and called Akshad informing him about Meera's absence. She also gave Akshad some idea that her sister likely went to the same coffee shop they first bumped into each other or nearest parks to clear her head.

After hearing this, He instantly took out his car and went in search of Meera.

He kept driving in her neighborhood for almost an hour. He was panicking and blaming himself for her disappearance.

Then he saw Meera near some park, laying on a bench and two little girls rubbing her hands. He instantly stopped the car and ran to her tears of worry & relief flowing from his eyes.

"Hi kids, what are you doing?"

"This beautiful sister fell asleep in front of our house" one girl wearing a pink top who looked like she was in 6th standard said.

"Yes my mom said if someone falls asleep and their eyes are wet, it must be that the person is unwell" another girl who looked maybe 1-2 yr older than the pink top girl said.

"We are trying to keep her warm," the pink top girl added.

Seeing how lovely and caring these kids were Akshad told them that Meera was his relative and he had come to take this beautiful girl back to her own house.

Both the girls happily waved 'goodbye' at Akshad as he carried Meera in his arms and put her in the side seat. He quickly retrieved 2 chocolates from his car's storage and gave them to those little girls as a token of thank you.

The girls quickly accepted those and ran in the house to tell their parents. Akshad put a seatbelt on Meera and drove her to the family doctor's house.

While driving Akshad informed Rupal that Meera is with him and he will drop her off in an hour. Rupal felt relieved that Meera had been found & told him to drop Meera off safely.

Arriving at the doctor's house he carried Meera to the sofa in the living room. After check-up the doctor told him that due to lack of energy and stressful situation Meera's blood pressure shot up which caused her to faint.

The doctor gave her some injection, after 10-15 min Meera slowly gained consciousness.

"Meera, are you okay now?"

"Umm..???" she woke up confused of her surroundings, looking for the voice she found the doctor beside her

"Yes I feel better now, why am I here doctor?"

"You fainted on the road due to stress and high BP while taking a stroll I guess, your fiancé and my very good friend got worried about you and brought you to me" the doctor gave Meera a meaningful look.

"My what?" before she could say anything more ...Akshad came in carrying medicines and said

"Meera my love thank god you are awake, I was so scared when I saw you unconscious."

"Take these pills and let's go. I will drop you home." He gave a light kiss on her forehead.

"But Akshad?" he stopped her from saying "Meera, love we can talk about all the things in the car but we should now get going as Rupal is worried about you"

Hearing this Meera quietly took pills and stood up slowly from the couch. After bidding farewell to the doctor, Akshad helped Meera to the car and put a seatbelt on her.

As he was driving the car Meera kept staring at him in a peaceful way hence he asked her "Meera I am sorry for telling the doctor lie but I thought this was the only way to convince her to check you at this late hour"

"That's fine, sooner or later we will get engaged and married too." She told him still staring at him

"Why are you staring at me like that?" he thought she will get angry at him .

"I just want to thank you for today & I think I might have misunderstood you. I am just trying to figure you out"

Akshad never thought he would get this type of response from Meera, he was unable to speak anything.

"Let's just give each other a chance? What do you think?" she asked and gave a small smile

"I thought you would never say that. Let's meet for coffee tomorrow after office."

Both of them agreed on the plan and soon they reached Meera's house.

Rupal was on the porch pacing nervously but as she saw Meera entering she ran to her tears in her eyes and hugged her tightly.

"Di, don't ever do this to me again"

Meera agreed, hugging her back with full strength. After having lunch both of them went to sleep and gossiped a little as Rup was eager to know everything that happened from the time she left home in detail.
