Two Days Before Wedding
#Mehendi_Ceremony
Today Sharma residence was decorated beautifully with garlands and pastel green coloured curtains. On the curtains mix coloured butterflies were stitched to give them a fairy-tale look. The front porch looked like a different place altogether as it was shaded and a makeshift stage was made in between. Meera sat there on the stage, there was a leaf shaped couch on which she was made to sit.
The Mehndi/Henna artist was applying herbal henna paste on her hands. The design Meera selected was something unique; she decided to go for a bangle pattern as she loved to show some skin in between henna patterns.
Soon Rupal came and sat beside her "Di, look how happy Aunt Rashi is!" Rup pointed to where Mrs Rashi was dancing with her friends and family members. Everyone was enjoying the bhangra beats and the fragrance of henna was swaying with the air.
Meera's eyes beamed with happiness. She quickly controlled her tears and focused back on her cousin. "Rup, I am glad that finally my mother will be free from all the worries and debt that we owed to Arora's."
"Yes di. Looks like Aunt will be dancing till the night comes and still she will not be tired" Rupal said while looking at giggling and dancing ladies. Soon Rupal was also dragged by Mrs Rashi onto the dance floor. Sadly Meera could watch them from afar and could not join them as she had to get her henna design finished.
She hid Akshad's name in between her ring finger and little finger. She was curious to know how fast he would find it.
Soon the Henna artist was done applying henna on her feet and hands. Meera was looking gorgeous today. Soon she received a video call. Akshad has called her from his laptop so that he can see the ceremonies going on her side. Also, he showed her how his relatives were doing crazy bhangra (dance). Meera appreciated the efforts he was taking towards their relationship. Both families interacted through video call and then got engrossed in their celebration.
Same day Evening
#Sangeet_Ceremony
Akshad and Meera entered the venue with dry ice fog following them. Everyone was looking at them with smiles. These two looked so beautiful that the guests could not help but make a video of their entrance.
Meera wore a fairy-tale gown and Akshad wore a tuxedo for this occasion. Soon these two were seated on their special seats beside the stage. One by one the performances started, Rashi and Raghuwansh danced to the "pal pal dil ke paas" song. Their chemistry was on top, they looked enchanted by each other.
Next on stage were Vimal and Sheetal, they gave a singing performance and a beautiful fusion of songs were sung by them. Next up were Rupal and Riya ( best friend of Meera) and they danced to " din shagna da chadya, munda thoda offbeat hai" everyone hooted for them.
Soon Manik joined the stage with his fiancee Sakshi, "tera hone laga hu, teri ore" these two danced effortlessly and were like a perfect blend. Also Mr.Verma gave a funny performance with his wife. They interpreted a situation where both husband and wife are alpha people. Everyone loved this performance.
After some more dances by distant relatives, a musical chair was held. Manik won the round and got the exclusive 15 minutes of photography with the couple. He took 100 plus pictures with Meera and Akshad.
The night ended with Meera and Akshad's solo as well as a couple performances. Akshad gave solo " dilli wali girlfriend" Meera danced to " tum se hi " they ended the performance with couple dance on "kesariya & humnava mere"
Their performance gained lots of clapping and everyone was looking at them with adoration. Soon everyone eats dinner and goes back to their respective places of stay.
While leaving, Akshad held Meera's hands and gave it a squeeze. Surprised by this, Meera blushed a little and squeezed back. Akshad was looking so charming in his navy colored outfit that Meera couldn't stop her eyes from roaming back to him every few minutes.
Next day Morning
#Kangan_Ceremony
A mouli/sacred thread is tied to both Akshad and Meera's hands in their own homes and these two were told that after this ceremony they were not allowed to go out of their houses as good luck charm will cast away evil and will bless the bride & groom.
Looking at the thread a few tears came out of Meera's eyes she realized that after one day she has to leave this house and her people for someone who she does not love yet.
Even though he agreed to let her live in India for three months, she will have to stay with her in-laws and adjust as per their lifestyle. She was nervous.
Same day Afternoon
#Chuda_Chadhna_Ceremony
There was havan puja done, all the family members took part in this ritual. Rashi's cousin Meera's maternal uncle and his wife gifted her a set of 21 bangles, a combination of red and a few gold bangles in between.
The bangles were immediately covered with a white cloth; as per tradition Meera was not supposed to see them. Her mother told her, "Beta Meera, there is a saying that seeing bangles/chuda before the wedding brings bad omen. Also you need to keep wearing these bangles after wedding for at least one month"
On that, Meera nodded her head in agreement "okay mother, I will keep the things you told in my mind and follow them." Also kaleeras were gifted to her as it is a traditional gold accessory for a bride.
It is said that when a bride will shake the kaleeras over the head of an unmarried girl and if the fruit in it falls over that girl's head then it is believed that she will be next to get married.
