"Good morning Athena" I hear next to me. I turn to the other side not acknowledging him. I want to keep sleeping.
"Come on. Don't do that" he says, and chuckles.
"Go back to sleep Cato" I say.
"Why so grumpy?" he asks pulling me closer by my waist.
"Because we'll have to go on this stupid tour this afternoon. I don't want to go. I don't want to see the faces of the family of the fallen tributes" I say. He turns me around, making me look at him.
"Athena, I don't want to go either but we have to. Especially me. Do you think I want to face their families? After all I killed eight tributes in there" he says.
"Don't remember me, please" I say.
He pulls me close to his chest. I take a deep breath, letting his scent fill up my nose. It calms me down a little.
"Come on. The team is going to be here in an hour" he says, and helps me up. We don't really talk to eachother as we get ready. Actually, he gets ready while I sit in the backyard. They're going to put makeup on me anyways and I'll have to wear other clothes. Why even try? I listen to the nature around us. Since nobody's living behind our house, I have a great view at the forest. I've thought about running away a few times now, but I've never fully took it into consideration. I know Cato would never come with me. He would never run away with me. I don't blame him though. It is a stupid idea to do so. I mean, if you get caught they kill you or make you an avox. I bet Katniss would be one of these girls who would run away with you. After all she hunts in the forest illegaly. She goes out there every other day probably. She felt comfortable in the forest. At least in the one in the arena. That was her advantage actually. If they were in an desert or something, she would've been dead in an instant. It was a wonder, she even survived the first week."They're here" I hear behind me. I see Cato standing in the door with a worried look on his face.
"It's going to be okay" he says, and hugs me tightly.
"Have you missed me?" Alora asks in a high pitched voice.
"Of course" I lie, and hug her back. She immediately pulls me away from Cato into one of the offices. She sits me down in one of the big chairs, infront of a big mirrorVelvette then enters the room, making Alora go out again.
"How are you Athena?" she asks me.
"I'm fine" I say. She looks at me with a weird look. I can tell that she doesn't really belive that but I don't want to go into detail. I brush the hair out of my face, as her eyes grow wide.
"You're engaged?" she askes excited.
"Yeah" I say, blushing a little.
"Oh my god. Congratulations"she says, and hugs me tightly.
"When?" she asks, and starts doing my hair.
"Monday evening" I say.
"Aww, and did you do something special or just casual?"
"He invited our families for dinner but he told neither of us. I was kind of shocked when I was searching for the dessert and he pulled a ring out" I say, and we both laugh.
"I would've been too. And when is the wedding going to take place?"
"We actually haven't thought about it now. We took the ring more as a promise to wait for eachother, no matter what happens. It's a symbol of our love for eachother. We wanted to get the tour over first and maybe the next games too" I say.
"That's so sweet. You know, you shouldn't rush with marriage" she says.
"I know. That's why I was a little hesistant at first. I don't want to marry just now. I mean, he's nineteen and I'm eighteen. We have a lot of years in front of us"
"Maybe not. You never know what's going to happen. If you don't feel ready to marry him just yet, that's perfectly fine. You don't need to rush but you also never know what's going to happen. Something could happen to one of you, leaving the other one regretting not marrying earlier" she says, and I frown.
"I know. He said that too"
"Don't think about it so much. I believe everything is going to be fine for you two. You have nothing to worry about"
"Yeah" I say, and let her continue with my hair. She puts my hair half up-half down, complimenting my curls all the way through. Apperently I've been caring for my curls very good. I didn't even know that I should care for them. She hands me an outfit and a much too big, black coat. The coat has black feathers at the ends of the sleeves. I feel like a bird looking at myself in the mirror. I kindly thank her before stepping outside the room. Cato is wearing something smiliar to my outfit.
"Are you two ready?" Alora asks, and we both nod. "Good, Cesar is going to talk to you for a few minutes. You only need to look into the camera infront of you and make sure to smile. Look like the happy couple you are"
"Alright" Cato says annoyed, as Alora opens the door for us. He takes my hand and holds it tightly, as we hear our names being announced. We both wave at the cameras in front of us with the biggest smile on our faces.
