And in that Moment, when my hands stopped rising on his chest, and his eyes fluttered shut I buried my head in his tunic and sobbed louder, my body shaking. He took one more shaky and hesitant breath before going limp in my arms, I hugged him close to me, feeling the rain soak my dress and my salty tears mix in my mouth. His sword spoke to me, whispering comforting words in my ear but they were drowned out when the Sheikah came to retrieve link, giving them orders to take him to the shrine of resurrection.

I watched them carry him away, holding the sword in my lap, I ran my fingers along the dirty blade. Malice had taken over and the little voice was so quiet and drowned by the stormy sounds inside. I cried letting my tears hit the blade and after a long while I got up and ran to the korok Forrest, fitting the blade in the stone locking memories in time. My hands slipped around the blade and just as the tip started to slide the sun shown and the korok watched. I read a message to the great deku tree as I slipped the sword back in, hearing the small whispering voice fade away with a promise of the future.

That night something died in me as I made the dreaded walk back to Hyrule, slowly walking the castle. Every creature seemed to ignore me but the closer I got to the throne room, more and more malice drowned out my thoughts. I passed by my room, and my fathers. I passed by the champions bunkers. Small tears rolling down my face and I thought of them all. Finally I passed links rooms, empty. Finally I approached ganon, and with all my strength left, put my hope in link for the future and my prayers in Hylia for my safety.

And for the next 100 years, prayer was my only hope, prayer was my escape. Prayer was my link.
