"Stacey" I shouted.
Her head snapped around and she let out a noise that almost sounded like a scream, the tears that were already on her face moved horizontally at the sharp movement. Although they could be rain droplets, I severely doubted that.
I walked over and sat next to her on the completely soaked bench. I could see little specks of rain clinging onto individual strands of her hair and eye lashes as she sat in the down pour. The sadness that loomed in her eyes constantly, became more apparent in the dull surroundings of this day. Combined with the events that just recently occurred- Lunas betrayal included- I felt the overwhelming need to cry.
She said nothing.
"What's wrong?" I whispered whilst searching her eyes that were full of hurt and confusion.
"Nothing!" She sobbed.
"Stacey" I gave her a tell-me-now-I-wont-give-up look.
"Don't make me tell you" She pleaded.
"I'm not going to force you to do anything, I'm just expressing concern" I explained.
"Please!" Her hands latched onto my sleeve. I knew that one word had more than just a single meaning to it, although I knew that if I asked her she would deny it.
I stared into the endless blue of her eyes.
"You don't have to tell me, I'm just worried" I sighed whilst wallowing in my own sadness.
Stacey put her head in her hands and softly bawled into them.
"Hey, it's going to be ok." I put my hand on her back in a polite, yet slightly awkward gesture.
"No its not..." She trailed off.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
When she didn't respond I allowed myself to be lost in thought for a while. Although I had known her for not long at all I felt I could trust what she said.
"What did you mean in your email about your assistant?" She tried to change subject.
"He's not in the best of moods with me" I said simply.
"Oh, I see" She paused. "Sorry I won't keep you any longer"
"Actually Jared will be here shortly to take me home" I stated "You can come too, if you'd like" I offered.
She stared at me, a smile slowly spreading across her full, perfect cupids bow lips.
"What? Is there something on my face?" I probed my face with both hands, wondering if I had one of those odd sensors attached to me from the paramedics.
"No..." She grinned sheepishly.
I replayed what I had said in my head and realized the way I had presented my sentence.
"Oh no! I mean drop you off at your house, not at my house" I laughed with a grin of my own. It felt good to laugh, it seemed like years since I had experienced it.
"Well...I don't know"
"I forgot to ask what you were doing out here" I asked, perplexed.
"I was, just Erm..."
"You were just Erm?" I questioned.
"Well my friend wanted to go out, but she never showed up" She lied, and badly at that, her voice hitched on the word friend.
I was about to reply but the roar of the Jaguars engine interrupted me.
