I decided to take the rest of the day off to make sure Stacey was OK, I phoned up Jared and got him to clear my scheduele.
"Jared, I have an urgent matter to attend too. Reschedule all my meetings for tomorrow"
"Ok, will do, Sir. Any chance you could get my car back to me?" He asked hopefully.
"Of course, I'll park it up front" I hung up.
"Urgent matter?" Her eyebrows knitted together.
"You." I breathed whilst staring into the endless depths of her eyes.
Desire and anticipation raced thick and strong through my body, but I had to concentrate on getting us out of here.
I turned the car around and sped off into the afternoon traffic. As I was driving, I felt Staceys eyes on me, I wondered what was going through her mind.
"Where are we going?" She asked nonchalantly.
"Well l have to give Jared his Audi back, after that we are going to walk to my house and talk about this." I said firmly.
She placed her hand onto top of mine on the steering wheel, and I brought them down to rest on my leg, our fingers entwined.
"I never got the chance to thank you For what you did back there." I felt her look up at me.
"Thank me! For what? I thought you were mad at me." I chuckled
"Why would I be mad at you? I've been wanting that to happen for almost 5 years."
"5 years?! You've been putting up with his crap for 5 freaking years?" I was astonished.
"What else could I do, Justin? I didn't have a choice. If I tried to hide things would jut get worse, he would hit me harder. One time I tried to escape...I remember that."
I gave her hand a comforting squeeze " Shhhhhh you don't have to say anymore,Angel. That's not who you are anymore, you're not a prisoner in your own life"
"And besides, its not like I have anyone to turn to...he cut all contact with my family and friends. In fact, I think they think im dead." She shuddered.
I was going to find her family. At least one of us deserves it.
I parked the Audi outside, Stacey and I climbed out and I went in to thank Jared.
"Would you mind waiting out here? Its just I dont think Jared knows your with me, and the last thing I need is his inquisition." I gave her an apologetic smile.
"Of course, see you in a minute." She said nervously, almost like a question and leant against the wall on the outside of my building.
"Hey, Im coming back" I took a brave move and kissed her forehead, lingering before heading inside.
"How much do you want for her" I winked at Jared whilst tossing him the Audi's keys.
"Sorry, she's my baby girl." He laughed.
"Dang, well I'll take her off your hands when you finish your love affair." I said, chuckling ay my own joke.
"I don't think that will happen anytime soon, I spent 2 years saving up for her"
"That reminds me, Jared, I'm going to give you a bonus." I smiled fondly at him
"Not that I'm not complaining or anything but, why?" He asked nervously.
"Because you've been very helpful and a great asset to this company. You always complete everything on time and I've come to know you quite well."
"Thanks so much Justin!" he almost squealed.
