I saw Toby walking in the field. I stopped him. "Toby a word." He walked over to me. "Did Brian come to train you guys this morning?"

"No last place I saw him was the file shed. I'd check there." He said as he shrugged. I nodded and walked to the blue shed that sat on the edge of the housing unit of the compound. Something felt different as I got closer to the small building. I felt dread and anguish when the building came into my sight. Once I got in front of the door I felt a puddle underneath my boots. I looked down at the grass and it was soaked with blood. I fell to the ground just staring blankly at the puddle that was seeping from under the door. "No...no I don't believe it. No goddamn it Brian I don't believe it." I said softly. My heart sank into my stomach.

I felt the air grow cold around me. My head became fuzzy and empty. The only think I could think of was Brian and everything we'd done together. He was my closest friend. "Unlock the door Jeff." I heard from behind me. It's gotta be bad if he's here. I forced myself to stand from the grass and I pulled my keys from my pocket. I was shaky. I almost dropped my keys as I unlocked the door in front of me. I didn't want to see what waited for me on the other side of the door. I pulled it open and I puked when I saw my friend on the floor. A gun in hand and hole in his chest. I'd never seen something so gruesome, never with so much blood. This was also my friend and not a victim.

"I...I don't believe it." I muttered as I kept my eyes locked on Brian. I walked into the shed and gently picked him up. "He's still alive." I said as I felt a pulse as I picked him up. That was a relief but who knows how long he has in this state.

"I will take him Jeff. I will heal him like I have before." He said as he tried to take Brian from me. I turned my back to the monster.

"No I will take care of him. He has always taken care of us.. of me. It's my turn to give back now." I said and the monster nodded before disappearing. I draped my jacket over Brian so his injury couldn't be seen. I carried him back to my cabin. His squad noticed me carrying their leader and surrounded me to try to block him from view.Toby opened the door to my cabin. Zero looked shocked at Brian's body. "Zero go to his cabin and get his medical supplies." I said as I placed Brian on the floor mattress. She rushed out and slammed the door behind her. I keep watch of his pulse while I applied pressure to the wound.

She returned a few minutes later and rushed to my side with it. She opened it and began to clean the cavity. She started to sew up the skin. I watched her carefully. I trusted her, but I wasn't sure if I trusted her enough to do this. I mean she saw everything of Brian. Once it got to his lower stomach close to his tattoo and his genitals I took over from her. She was still learning medical from Brian. I double checked her work as I cleaned the wound once again. I held him up so that Zero could wrap a bandage around his chest and stomach. I laid him back down gently.

"Jeff what is that?" She pointed to his tattoo.

"His tattoo. It's his one identifiable mark. That tattoo is in police records I can tell you that." I said looking at my friend. "Zero I can't let him go back to Tim. Not... not if Tim causes him to do this."

"If he knew about the affairs why is this just now happening? You said he's known for years." She looked at me.

"Because this is bigger than him just sleeping with someone else. There's physical evidence of it. If that were to get out it would kill the compound. He knows that. He always said he'd rather die than watch this place burn itself from the inside out." I sighed heavily as I wiped my blood covered hands on my blood soaked jacket. It was heavy and dripping with Brian's blood. "If that video got out his position would be questioned."

"So what if he got questioned he is Brian our commander. We all obey him."

"Zero you don't understand the complexity of the situation. If that video got out Tim would become your commander because that is who the people would see as a more fit leader. Because they would see he's the more dominant of the two."

"So is Tim's affairs not public? I mean he's slept with most women here." She went to grab my hand but I pulled it away from her.

"Go check on Liu I'm done with this conversation." I said coldly to her. I was mean to Brian just a few hours ago and now he's basically dead on my floor. I stood up slowly from the ground and I looked at the wall in front of me. I gotta kill something. I wanna kill Tim but I can't. Not right now at least. I also don't want to leave Brian.

I went to my kitchen and just started slamming my glasses on the ground. I took a knife from the counter and stabbed it into the wall. I kept stabbing the wall until the dry wall fell out in a jagged circle.
