"Don't tell anyone what you just heard. Do you understand me?" I said in a serious tone as I looked at Zero.
"What is he on? I mean I know it's something so you might as well tell me. And Tim isn't loyal to Brian?" She asked as she sat where Brian once sat.
"Well Brian does a lot of different stuff. It's hard to tell what it is right now, but he shouldn't be doing it. It makes him different. And yes Tim is what I would like to call a whore."
"I thought you were friends with Tim?"
"No I hate Tim, but Brian loves him so I put up with him for Brian's sake. And he thinks we're friends because of my connection to Brian." I said as I pulled a bag from the box and a stack of papers. "Brian is my mentor and one of my closest friends. I know he'd take a bullet for me. I would do the same for him."
"When has he been not loyal to Brian because I haven't seen it."
"Tonight we will watch Tim. He sneaks out every night at two am. He goes to the other cabins. But an example happened recently that Brian saw. It was the today when Brian said you could rest. We were overseeing the training and Brian pulled one of the slackers to the side and gave her strict instructions. And Tim flirted with the girl in front of Brian." I said calmly as I began to roll joints. "He's just an overall ass."
"Who has he cheated with?" She kept pushing about Tim's infidelity. I looked at her sharply.
"Zero you know that you cannot share this information?" She nodded her head. "Natalie, lulu, Jill, Jane, Dina, Ann as well as our victims and new recruits. Those are only the people I know of because I either caught him or Brian did." She looked at me shocked.
"But those are all women. I thought he was gay?"
"He is not gay he's an opportunist. Stay away from Tim and avoid being alone with him. If you are around Tim make sure I can see you. I don't trust him around you." I said sternly. I lit the blunt and took a long drag.
"So why is he with Brian?"
"Power. If he is Brian's right hand he has immunity to our laws and rules. Mostly at least." She looked at me even more confused. "We're a complex society and whoever sits next to the top dog around here is protected by the law from the law."
"But you said Brian is one of your closer friends. Why don't you have immunity?"
"Because I'm not in his pants. And I don't need immunity I don't break our laws. I listen to Brian. And if a situation happens where I have to break the laws I have reasoning." I look down at my hands. "I would never use Brian like Tim does." I muttered softly.
"Sounds like you're jealous."
"Im just pissed off over how Tim treats him." I walk over to the other side of the counter to her side. She turned on the bar stool and looked up at me. I grabbed her face and kissed his softly. There was a knock on the door. I sighed heavily and went to the door and opened it. Toby was standing on my porch. "What do you want kid?"
"Tomorrow is the feast I was wondering if I could get some help preparing everything. I want to impress Brian." He began to ramble.
"Toby does Brian know you're out?" I asked looking around behind him.
"Yes he does I radioed to him. He said I had temporary immunity from my punishment."
"Toby it's late. Can't we do this in the morning? I mean you can't train with your leg and I don't have to train tomorrow. Zero could help too she's on my squad." I said looking back at the woman sitting at my bar. She looked up at me and nodded.
"Jeff please." He pleaded. I shut the door in his face. He knocked once again. I opened it annoyed looking down at him.
"Fine but only for like twenty minutes." I caved in. Mostly just to get him to go away. Zero and I helped him place the chairs around the tables for the feast. It took about thirty minutes, more than I anticipated but it's done now. "There now we're retiring for the night Toby. Do not disturb us again tonight." I say dauntingly as her and I return to my cabin.
"Why would you want him not to disturb us?" She questioned as she sat on the couch.
"Because I'm old and I want a peaceful night." I said as I walked back to the kitchen. I opened my liquor cabinet and pulled an unlabeled bottle out. "You want a glass?" I ask as I grab two glasses from the cabinet. She nodded as I pour her glass and take it to her. "So you ready to see the famous infidelity?" I look over at her and nodded nervously.
I stand up with my glass in hand and walk down the hall to my room. She follows. "Why did we come in here?" She asked looking at me confused.
"This window has the best view." I said I turned back to face their cabin. Tim emerge smoking a cigarette. "There he is watch him." Zero kept her eyes on the man as he stomped his cigarette out and then as he walked into another cabin.
"Who's cabin is that?"
"I think that's Natalie's. Unless she's with Toby though I doubt that. She's always liked Tim more but he isn't on the market so she went with Toby." I explained as I took a sip from my glass. "He probably told Brian he was gonna smoke. I can ruin his night though." I walk to my dresser and pick up my walkie talkie.
