Click, click, click.

"Walter, I swear to God. If you click that damned pen one more time I'll give you something to be jumpy about." Caroline said, trying her best to finish the worksheet in front of her.

Caroline Wispe, the angriest girl in the junior class. She usually took to sitting alone, but since she was excelling in physics and Wally was struggling, they got paired up at the beginning of the year.

"The homecoming game's tonight! I can't sit still." Wally moved in his chair.

Wally Clark, senior, the best football player in the school's history is also a dumbass. In her opinion.

"Can you please just finish your problems?" Her gaze was sharp, deadly even.

Wally Clark never liked her attitude. Actually he did like her attitude, it was kind of cute, but he found her difficult. He always tried to be polite and talk to her but she shut him down every damn time.

"I don't get this one." He scribbled on the scrap piece of paper in front of him.

Caroline sighed. She tried not to let his poor academics get to her, it's not his fault. However it annoyed her to no end.

"Just skip it and I'll show you how in study hall on Monday."

He did as he was told.

"So you going to the game tonight?" He asked, trying to copy her nonchalant energy. He failed, and seemed desperate.

In reality, their guidance councilor asked him to be nice to her. Something about trouble at home. He was again, just doing as he was told. While also trying to get her attention.

"Nope, I'm busy." She popped the 'p'.

She planned on walking down to the lake and smoking until she couldn't find her way home. Very important. She also had chores.

Wally sighed, he asked her every Friday if she'd come to a game. She always declined with a vague excuse. Or she flat out said she didn't want to.

"I think you'd have fun." He reasoned.

Caroline didn't like that.
Something about being told what she'd enjoy makes her ears steam.

"You don't know me, so you don't get to think anything." She hissed.

Wally had just as much sass as she did, and he'd use it.

"Well I think it would be better than moping around feeling sorry for yourself." He shot back.

He didn't realize how fucked that made everything. Until she got red-in-the-face pissed.

"Excuse me?!" Caroline's hands slammed onto the table.

Wally realized his mistake.

"Ms. Wispe!" The teacher hushed.

"Excuse me?" Caroline remarked quieter, still filled with fire.
