It was the that night homecoming game, and Caroline was starting of executing her 'proving I'm fun' plan.First, she reluctantly let Dawn give her a mini makeover. She let her curl her hair and do makeup. Caroline drew the line at bright red lipstick.
"You know what? How about I do the eyeliner?" Caroline told her, taking the brush from her hands.
"Fine, but I've had a lot more practice than you." Dawn crossed her arms.
Charley walked into the bathroom.
"Caroline? Wally's looking for you." He told her."What for?" Caroline turned in the office chair she snatched from the office.
"I don't know, but he was asking if you've been busy? When's the last time you talked to him?" Charlie only asked because they usually spoke every day.
Caroline thought about it, and realized it had been almost a week with nothing but a basic greeting every now and again.
"A while actually, I'll be back." She pointed to Dawn. She nodded.
Caroline made her way down the halls to find Wally in the cafeteria. She knew he'd be there. Every Friday they usually meet up in the cafeteria to get the chocolate chip cookies. Now school was out and they were cold.
"Hey! Charley said you were looking for me? What's up?" Caroline slipped into the seat next to him.
Caroline noticed Wally's face wasn't as bright as it used to be. Like there was something missing.
"Oh hey!" Wally smiled, fiddling with with hands nervously. "I was just- did you do something, different?" He motioned to Caroline's face and hair.
"Yeah, Dawn was practicing my homecoming makeup." She shrugged, pretending she didn't think it was a big deal, her going to homecoming that is. It was.
"Homecoming? You're going?" His face brightened into a grin.
"Yeah, I figured it could be fun."
"Yeah, because I AM fun."He smiled and nodded to himself. He wasn't even going to bother asking before, she never went. But now...
"Anyway, what'd you need me for?" Caroline asked.
He was worried she was mad at him or something, they hadn't talked in a few days and he figured he did something wrong.
He forgot about that though, instead excited to ask her to homecoming."Well... if you're going to homecoming, I was wondering if you'd want to go with me?" He asked, his hands grasping each other with anticipation.
She almost said yes, but then remembered she was going in spite of him. It would ruin the point of her revenge glow up.
"I have plans with Rhonda and Dawn. You know, like a girls night sort of thing." Her eyes averted to her lap, and she felt like a total bitch as soon as she said it.
His face relaxed into a more neutral, disappointed expression.
"Oh." Was all he uttered.
