Story Unfolds :
"Who are you to reject me, Anga Raj?!! And how dare you to do that?!! Just because I am a helpless girl and seeking your aid you underestimate me and took me as a characterless woman. A prostitute!!! A Beshya!!! A Rakhawel!! Right!!!
(By pointing her index finger to him)
I reject you as my husband. I will not accept you till my last breath. From today I will neither accept you nor give my identity as your wife. We were strangers till yesterday. We will remain strangers. Forever. You had only two wives till now. You have only two wives now onwards. While I have a reluctant unnamed husband who is not important for me anymore. I will break the chain of society where a girl had to be dependent either on her father, or brother, or husband, or son. I, now onwards, will leave on my own. I reject patriarchy. I condemn the social norms. I refute society. I will demolish every single rule of this kind of patriarchal society. I promise you. We will meet soon. But as enemy till our last day in this earth."She was snapping back at him with disdain. Her voice was trembling in anger and frustration. Her eyes were blurred in tears. She felt dejected and dead inside.
The man standing upright proudly before her displayed no emotion to her. But she was wrong. His beautiful eyes were wide in shock. Thousands of emotions were passing through them. He just could not believe what was going on with him?!!! He did not know what he had done to her that made her so agitated?!! He did not have slightest memory of yesterday night!!! He knew that he had touched her. Yes, he had. But he was bound to. He had to check her pulse. He was so afraid for her. He did not want her to die. He simply could not leave her alone to perish or suffer. What was his fault?!! He tried to protect her!!
He lifted his blurred vision towards the sky and murmured softly in his mind -
"Madhav, did I do wrong?!! Tell me. Did I touched her inappropriately?!! Did I have any evil intention towards her?!! Did I commit any sin?!!! If not, then why always me, Madav?!! Why always me?!! How much I have to suffer in my life?!! Is it endless?!!!"
....
In heaven, Devi Jogmaya sighed hard. She felt bad for him. Her heart ached for him tremendously.
"Are you feeling sorry for him too, Devi?!!" Mata Parvati asked her.
In complete silence she nodded her pretty head in agreement.
Mata Parvati twisted her face and answered philosophically "He has to go through this hurdle. He is Karna. He has to suffer most. In the hands of his family. His biological mother. His own younger sibling Arjuna. His wife Uruvi. And so on. He has to see the death of his eight sons in front of his very eyes. The list of his suffering and agony is endless. He has to prove himseld as the greatest soul of India. May not be the best Archer of India but the greatest human being over this earth. The road is not easy. A bit."
Devi Jogmaya opened her mouth agape but no word came out of it. She understood the signal. She was to see the show. That's all.
...She was staring hard at his face in disbelief. Even after so much curse how could he stand tall?!! He looked genuinely hurt but not uttering a single bad word for her. What was he made of?!!! Iron!!! Was he a cold hearted man as people claimed about him?!!! Or he did not care a bit!!!
But she was wrong. He cared very much. He cared for every single thing in his life. He could not utter a single bad word for her because he realized Her agony. Her pain. Her suffering. Her dejection. Her depression. He was going through the same. He somewhat felt them both similar. It was neither his arrogance nor his pride that made him self conscious or reluctant to her.
He felt overwhelmed. He felt sorry for her. He felt pity for her. His attraction was turning slowly into adoration and respect. He wanted to hug her. He wanted to comfort her. He wanted to embrace her and convey his feelings to her. But it was improper. She was a virgin. He was married. Twice. He could not deceive his wives. Any other man could. Karna could not. He could not overstep his boundaries. He was limited. He was confined. He was Anga Raj Karna. Not anybody else. She narrowed her eyes to him and asked for the last time -
"Do you have anything to say?!!"
"Rajkumari, you have said everything. Nothing left for me now." His deep husky baritone voice seemed broken heart to her ears. But somehow it sent goosebumps in her body too. She had controlled her urges. It was not her. The previous girl's. Baishali. Her look alike. Karna's fiancee. His first love. She was Uruvi. His rejected wife. They had nothing in common. But she was wrong in this assumption too. They had one thing in common. A person. Karna himself.
She strode slowly towards her horse and jumped on it. She kicked in the stomach of "Rohit" (Her horse) gently. It understood the signal. Being a good horse it followed it's masters given command. Blindly. It neighed for sometime and then galloped with her on its back. Another horse from the far east followed her horse in silence. It was her friend Priya Darshini who like a loyal friend was following her. Both of the horses disappered on the horizon. Their destination was quite unknown even to both of them.
Karna stood motionless and alone. With his eyes he looked earnestly at the disappearing silhouette of Uruvi. The enigma of his life. The scar on his heart. The bleeding on his soul. With her gone his self esteem. His pride. His arrogance. And might be his days of youth. He felt lost. He felt dejected. He felt overwhelmed. He felt dead from inside. He fell down on the floor while closing his teary eyes very very slowly. How many more times he had to die?!!! He did not know that!!!
He promised himself "I will clear the entire confusion when I meet her once more. I have to. I have to beg for her mercy even if I am not guilty. She is hurt now. But one day she will most definitely listen to my pleadings." He perhaps was trying to console himself.
Alas he did not know that his cruel destiny would never allow him that opportunity once again. He could not be able to talk to her once again. She now wanted to avenge her rejection. Her insult. She would never listen to his reasonings. Never. Bhumi Suta and Surya Putra would not be able to unite in this life. Never. Ever.
