🎶I smile, even though I hurt see I smile🎶

🎶I know God is working so I smile🎶

I was awakened by my mother loudly playing gospel music.

It was Sunday morning, we had to be at church soon and I was looking forward to going.

I love going to church it gives me a type of peace I can't get from anyone else.

Sitting up I rubbed my face with a groan. I checked the time on my phone and it revealed that I still had three minutes left until my alarm was scheduled to go off.

Right away I laid back down on my stomach trying to savor my three minutes.

As soon as my head hit the pillow there was a knock on my door. I didn't even ask who it was before they helped themselves into my room.

"Heyy stink!" Nija walked into my room with a big smile. She came and laid right on my back and casually started scrolling on her phone.

This is normal for Nija to just come in and make herself at home. She's basically family at this point, so we just accept her with open arms.

I groaned trying to lift myself with her weight on me. "Dang girl, what do you be eating?" I asked after miserably failing to lift myself.

"I'm thick 'cause I be eatin' my oats" She quoted Ice Spice removing herself from me and sitting up on my bed.

"Not you quoting Ice Spice on a Sunday" I chuckled while heading to my closet to look for something to wear.

I settled on a simple black dress grabbing a cardigan to wear over it. Then I made my way to the bathroom to shower and get ready.

We were now pulling into the church parking lot. My mom began to drive around looking for a parking lot. She soon found a spot and backed into it quickly.

Soon we were making our way into the building. We still had about fifteen minutes until the service started so me and Nija heading to the fellowship hall to see if they still had any bagels or coffee left.

My mother on the other hand went into the sanctuary to go sit down and save us some seats.

After we ate our bagels we made our way into the sanctuary. We looked around a little bit to find my mom. Usually, we sit around the same area every time so I had an idea of where to find her.

"There she goes right there" Nija pointed out. We began walking up to her. As we got closer I saw my mom sitting and chatting with Mary Johnson KB's mom.

I put my hand out stopping Nija in her tracks. "Oh my God he's here!" I whispered to her, and she began to look around.

"Who?" She asked naively

I squinted at her, "The Lord is here- GIRL WHO ELSE!?" My whispers got more aggressive but I still made sure to keep my voice down.

"The boy I was telling you about last night is here and his family!" I subtly point toward them.

We began to walk closer realizing the only two available seats left in the row are at the end next to KB.

He was wearing a white button-down shirt with the top button open, jeans, and sneakers. He paired that with some gold earrings and a simple gold chain.

Finally making it to the seats I greet everyone and introduced my best friend.

"Hey y'all it's good to see you, this is my best friend Nija" Everyone greeted her with a simple How are you except for KB. He just gave her a simple nod.
