New Year's Eve, 5:06 pm
"Okay, 1...2...3 Go!" I said starting the movie on my laptop.
"Wait! I ain't press it," I heard Kobi's voice through the phone. I paused the movie with a huff.
"You had one job. Just press play when I say go, okay?" I rolled my eyes at him with a small smile on my face. We were currently trying to watch a movie at the same time on FaceTime.
Recently, I have been wanting to have a Marvel marathon where I watch all the MCU movies in order. Once I told Kobi what I was doing he immediately wanted to join and here we are now trying to watch Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
"Hol' on ma, Ion even got it pulled up yet,"
"You just said you were ready," I squinted at him through the camera.
He had his phone in his hand and he was sitting up against his headboard. As far as I could see he didn't have a shirt on, but he still had on his infamous gold chain. Once he saw my face he started chuckling.
"Ight, 1...2...3 go," He said. I smacked my lips pressing play. The movie started and I wasted no time opening up the pack of sour gummy worms I had next to me.
"D*mn mama, the f*ck is you doin'?" Kobi said.
"I'm just eating my candy, what do you mean?" I held the candy up toward the camera.
"You was makin' a lot of noise, I can't even hear the movie,"
"You're being dramatic," I rolled my eyes continuing to eat the candy, "it wasn't even that loud,"
"Well it was loud ta' me"
"You're loud to me," I mumbled trying to focus back on my movie.
"Whatchu say?" He perked up.
"I ain't say nothin'," I tried to move on.
"Yo mouth gone get you f*cked up, keep on," He said.
"Jabari stop cussin' before my mama hears you" I scolded.
"Yea ight, keep playin' wit' me,"
I waved him off focusing back on the movie. My stomach started growling making it known how hungry I was.
"I'm so hungry," I said popping a gummy worm in my mouth.
"How you gone say somethin' like that while you already eatin'?"
"This is just a snack, I want some real food," My mind drifted for a bit, "Oouuu I want wings," I said getting all excited.
"We just had wings..." He said.
"I know, I want some more," I shrugged digging into my gummy worms and looking for my favorite flavor. The movie started getting interesting catching our attention. We watched the movie for a while in silence before Kobi spoke up again.
"Aye, you let ya moms know u goin' wit' me tonight?" He asked out of the blue.
"Uh kinda, I told her I was going to a cheer thing with Nija..."
"Bruh," He snorted. "She not even on the cheer team, why you lyin' to her?" He asked with a hint of playful sternness in his tone.
"If I had told her anything else she wouldn't have let me go," I rolled my eyes. "Plus I heard from Amir she's going to her own New Year's party tonight anyway, so she wouldn't even know," I shrugged.
"Ight but you know if she catches us she beatin' both of our a**," He pointed his finger at me.
"Awn you scared?" I teased
