Audrey Harris

I carefully unlock the door to Serena's house and walk inside cautiously, I knocked and got no response so I figured it was safe to come in.

Harry must not be here yet.

I've known Serena my entire life, she's like a sister to me really. So when her parents moved and left her the house after she graduated college I offered to help look after it when she wasn't here. Which isn't often considering she's here any chance she gets.

She wanted me to be here to meet Harry when he got in from the airport but I figured he wouldn't wanna meet someone right after getting off a plane.

I go about the large house dusting and organizing things here and there after putting away a small load of groceries.

I may also be putting off meeting Harry as much as I can....

He's my best friend's best friend and baby daddy! Sue me for being nervous! Serena has also made it abundantly clear for nearly 7 years that he's my soulmate apparently.

I don't know how much longer I can take her hounding me to break up with my boyfriend so that I can date her baby daddy.

I'm honestly shocked it's taken this long for us to meet, there's been a couple close calls over the years but one of us always has something come up last minute derailing the plans of our alleged 'meet cute'.

I kinda hope that I hate him.

Because then Serena won't be right.

But Serena's right about everything.

My phone ringing pulls me from my anxious thoughts.

Speak of the devil.

"Hi Seri!"

"Is he there yet!" I barely finish the greeting before her loud voice rings through the phone.

I roll my eyes with a smile.

"What happened to hi, hello, how are you?"

"Audrey!" She whines, "He won't answer my calls, his flight got in an hour ago!"

At her words I pause, I don't know how I would feel having someone know my every move at all times of the day, but I guess when you have a kid with someone that must change things.

I start grabbing my things and head for the door to lock back up. "Did he text you?" I ask knowingly. Serena has a habit of ignoring all her texts and jumping straight to phone calls.

"No he didn't- Oh."

"Called it." I snicker, locking the door.

"He's walking around town now." She informs me.

"Okayyy." I say hesitantly.

"Go show him around!"

I stop walking and sigh.  "Serena. I love you to death. But please, stop trying to force this. I'll meet him eventually, if he's good enough to be in your life and raise a kid with then I'm sure we'll get along fine. I love Max and we are happy. Okay?"

The line goes quiet until I hear her giggle.

She giggled.

"Hm. I love you Audrey. But you, my friend are a shit liar. It'll happen when the universe intends it to. TaTa lover girl!" She hangs up.

I groan out in frustration, wrapping my arms around myself to shield from the cold. Serena tends to say she'll leave things at the hand of the universe but that's just Serena for "I'm going to do everything in my power to make this happen."
