Sasha: What's gone wrong, Carmen?
Carmen: Hey! That's one hell of a thing to say to a person. Just because I'm calling doesn't mean there's a crisis.
Sasha: That's technically true, I suppose. Why are you calling?
Carmen: Well... There's a crisis.

"It always starts the same way."
Carmen woke up in a sort of black void and there stood the Owl Beast.
"I wake up some place dark and then it appears."
She quickly turned and ran.
"And eventually I wake up and I know I turned into...that thing."
"I see." The doctor nodded. "Here, take this." He handed her a gem. "It will let you know when the beast's energy is bubbling to the surface. Also, I hear gems are quite fashionable with young witches."
"Oh, what a beautiful little stone." Ms.Mendoza said before turning on Karen Mode. "May I speak with you outside? Just a moment, hon."
Carmen stood up and walked over to the door, listening in on the conversation.
"What was that? I thought you were in the Healing Coven, not the Bauble Brigade!"
"Ms.Mendoza, we have never seen a curse quite like this. I'm not sure it can be healed. Perhaps if we consult the potions coven, they may know a way to keep it at bay-"
"Keep it at bay? Oh, no. My daughter is suffering and I want that thing out! Cut it out if you have to!"
Carmen gasped, their hand flying to their mouth. They looked up at their window and yep, an idea is happening.
Ms.Mendoza pushed open the door. "Carmen, I'm taking you to someone else." But a quick look around the room showed that her daughter was gone.
Carmen ran through the woods, into a clearing, where there was what appeared to be some sort of gate/fence. "I never knew this was back here." She tripped over something and pulled it out of the dirt. When she wiped the dirt away, the briefcase looking thing revealed that it was instead a fucking door and, with the turn of a key, it opened. First, it showed something Carmen couldn't quite make out what is was, but then it showed trees of green.
"What?"
"Carmen! Carmen, is that you?"
Well, not exactly looking to face her mother right now, Carmen jumped into the portal and it disappeared.
"Carmen! Carmen!" Ms.Mendoza came into the clearing. "I will find a way to cure you, Carmen. No matter what."

Their alarm clock screamed and so, naturally, Carmen threw it against the wall. Into a pile with all the others she's murdered. First things first, she forced herself out of bed, shaved her feathers, downed some elixir and gave herself a new dress. Basically, she has long sleeves now.
"Ah, there we go. Mama like."
Hooray for wardrobe changes!
Meanwhile, Char was sleeping in the kitchen.
"Mean!"
Char is no longer sleeping.
"We ran out of apple blood." Carmen turned to Char. "Still no luck?"
"None. And I was up all night. I read every tome, book, notepad and tea leaf." Void displayed her tea leaves which simply shrugged. "But nothing explains how to make a portal to the human realm."
