CHAPTER TWELVE . . .
. . . ABANDONMENT !Miran could remember that day, the day Toji Fushiguro officially left them. It was the middle of April, she and the kids were in the living room. Megumi was drawing while Tsumiki was watching TV as Miran braided her hair. It was a typical day at the Fushiguro residents.
"Tsumiki, do you know where your mom went?" Miran asked, tying the bottom of the braid with a ribbon. Yesterday, her and Tsumiki's mother had a 'disagreement' on her responsibilities as her mother. She walked out angry and Toji followed her.
Ever since Toji married Tsumiki's mother, he declined more in their vicinity. It was rare to see him twice in a week. Miran questioned how he met the women and where, with such short notice they wedded only six months ago.
It was suspicious.
Tsumiki looked down, gloomy, "No, she left and said I needed to stay here." Miran won't be bland, she hates Tsumiki's mother. She was manipulative, rude, forceful... she didn't act like a mother at all to Tsumiki.
Frankly, Miran is sure the woman had no motherly bone in her body.
When she first met Tsumiki, she was very shy and quiet, always asking if it was okay of her to do simple things. She cried one time when she accidentally spilled a cup of water on the carpet, she was afraid of Miran yelling at her.
That was the moment Miran's anger silently boiled over at that woman, who could emotionally hurt a child for something so little? As if it isn't human to make mistakes.
Miran smiled softly and patted the girl's shoulder lightly, "Okay, well, you want to help me bake. There's some cookie batter in the kitchen."
Her eyes lit up, "Ready?! Mama never lets me in the kitchen."
"Yeah! Megumi, you want to come?" Miran got up and offered her hand to the boy who looked up, his hand immediately latched to hers while holding his drawing tools, "Hm."
He settled on the kitchen table and continued his doodles while Tsumiki and her began baking. Hours passed and now they were waiting for the cookies to cool off, Tsumiki was the most excited one. She wanted to see if she did a good job.
Then, the doorbell rang, Miran noticed Megumi perked up at the ring but didn't question it. She patted the light blue apron she had on and walked towards the entrance. Opening the door, she was greeted by the face of Toji Fushiguro.
His body leaned to the wall on the side, not making eye contact as he stared at the void, "We need to talk, kid."
Miran hummed and looked around Toji, she would have thought that women would have shown up too, "Where's Tsumiki's mother?"
"She won't be coming back."
"Oh," was all she could say, Miran would ask him later on what that meant, "Tsumiki and I made some cookies. Megumi also drew something he want to show-"
