CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR . . .
. . . SPIRALS !

It was still dark. Miran doesn't know what to do anymore, what to think. When she sleeps, she only dreams of them, all of them. She's seen death as if it was an old friend.

It first took her parents from her, deserting her with her sister. Years pass and Emi is taken... Toji follows. The latest person who's met Death is Haibara... that sweet boy. All she feels is guilt, the aching feeling burying itself deep into her chest, like a sword. If she was there then maybe Haibara wouldn't have gone too soon.

In the life as a Jujutsu sorcerer, she knows there will be much more death, and that this is just the beginning. More loneliness as she ages... if she ages.

There were a few sorcerers for a reason.

The darkness of these tailsmen drove her insane, forcing her into her own thoughts. Sometimes she can't even tell if she was awake or dreaming...

She senses them sometimes, far off, somewhere she could never get to. It's why she sits outside in the cold, it feels closer than with warmth. The wind on her face and the crowds of people reminded her that she was still alive.

Suguru's and the twin's hospitality is filled with warmth, but it's not the one she yearns for, unfortunately. Every day, she fears time, not even asking Suguru for the date. She already missed two birthdays, she missed so much already. But she couldn't break, not down, she had to stay strong...

She will see them again, once Suguru takes the talismans off her eyes.

But it grows, the burn in her heart, the droopiness of her body. Yes, a part of her is losing hope, the thing she taught her children to always hold on to. Even with the many hardships she had to face, she wouldn't sacrifice it for the world...

Just to see them again, to watch them grow is her only wish.

She'd lay under her covers, thinking back, all the way to the beginning when she first laid her eyes on Megumi

She'd lay under her covers, thinking back, all the way to the beginning when she first laid her eyes on Megumi. He was so small, so tiny, full of life. After the death of her sister, she knew she needed to be there for him. He was a quiet but babbling baby, he often spoke to himself a lot. He also had a strong grip, one time he grabbed her hair and never let it go until she gave him his bottle (The main reason she cut her hair short).

He was fussing in the beginning, crying almost every night, like all kids he has tantrums and sometimes doesn't listen to her. But, that was normal for every child. He grew out of his tantrums once he hit three, he became more observant and seemed to cling to her wherever she went.

Then Tsumiki came into the picture, dropped off by her mother when she and Toji went out. She was a year older than Megumi, thin, and had a permanent grin on her face. It concerned Miran how thin the girl was, she later found out that her mother rarely feeds her, only bringing food when she was hungry, disregarding Tsumiki completely.
