34. BBQs and first days.

Isabella

"Izzy?"

I look past Nate and Seth and see Jackson standing there with a case of mikes hards.

"What're you doing here Jackson?" I step back.

"Wait you know jacks?" Seth says looking at me shocked.

"I didn't even know you lived here? I swear I had no idea Izzy" Jackson says staring at me just as shocked.

"Wait, what the hell is going on?" Nate says walking into the house a bit more.

"Jackson can explain. Everyone's in the backyard" I say and walk back into the backyard.

"Izzy, come on" Jackson says following the boys into the house and out to the backyard.

"Oh your gonna love this" I say as everyone states at me as I walk into the backyard.

The trio walks into the back yard.

Kat chokes on her food. Colby stands up. Sam spits out his drink. Jake and Tara stare at the doorway SHOCKED.

"What the actual fuck?" Sam says.

"Yuppppp" I say and sit down in the chair beside where Colby is standing.

"When I tell you the vibe just changed, I mean the vibe has CHANGEDDDD" Annie says staring at everyone. 

"Okay so what's happening" Nate says bringing his case of beer over to the cooler and placing some of them inside.

"Jackson?" I say raising my eyebrow.

"Me and Izzy used to date. My brother is Aaron" is all he can say.

"Oh shit" Nate and Seth say at the exact same time.

"Yeah, I'm just gonna go" Jackson says.

I look over at Colby who gives me the 'are we gonna hold a grudge' look.

I roll my eyes before speaking "no it's fine, you can stay. But don't go stealing all my potato salad. That's where I draw the line"

"Are you sure?" Jackson says.

"Yeah, I guess you aren't the WORST person they could've brought to the bbq" everyone laughs.

Everything goes great the rest of the day/evening.

Couple hours later every one is walking around or sitting down chatting.

Jackson walks up to Isabella.

"Hey"

"Hey" she looks over at the boy and gives him a small smile.

"I just wanted to tell you that I'm sorry.. I didn't know what was going on with Aaron. I never knew. I'm so sorry for everything that he put you through. You didn't deserve any of that" Jackson says choking up at the words.

"Jackson it's fine" Isabella says. 

"No it's not. He's my brother. I should've known what he was doing. My mom should have known. Someone should have known" his eyes start to water "Izzy, I wanted to reach out after you got out of the hospital. Or after Taylor died, but I was scared. I thought you would hate me"

"Why would I hate you Jackson?" Isabella looks over at him.

"Because he was my brother Izzy. I feel responsible" Jackson wipes a tear from his eye.

"Jackson you didn't know. There was nothing you could've done" Izzy says turning to face the boy.

"I could've tried to talk to him. I should've been there"
