A couple of months had passed. The couple were thankful the babies were now in a routine and they were getting a good 6 hour sleep on a night time. News about the babies had not yet got out and people just assumed Lottie was at home resting, ready to give birth.
The season was in full swing, with 2 races already taken place. It had been a rubbish start to the 2023 season but after all the difficulties on the track, Lando couldn't wait to get home to his family. Lottie had decided to stay home for the first few races, to heal and get used to been a mum to two small babies. She also was an auntie to Jess' baby who arrived 2 weeks after hers.
She was meeting Cisca, Cis, Flo, Sav, Jess and Hannah for lunch whilst Lando and Max looked after the babies. She heads in to the restaurant and is taken to a private room she booked, away from prying eyes. One by one the girls arrived, greeting each other, taking a seat and ordering food.
"I'm glad you could all come today" Lottie smiles grabbing the attention of the table. " I have some news to share with you all" The room look on in confusion. "Me and Lando are getting married......in 3 weeks" Lottie takes a sip of her water waiting for the news to sink in with her guests.
"What?" Cisca looks to her.
"We are only having a small ceremony at the town hall. We are then holding a slighter bigger gathering at Zac and Tracey's to celebrate. We wanted to do it before the season fully kicked in and we didn't want anything big anyway"
"Oh my, that's not that far away" Jess looks to her friend.
"Well I've already designed my dress. I'm getting the fabric shipped as we speak. I'll make the dress. The ceremony is all booked, we are only inviting you, Adam, Ollie, Max, Pierre, Zac, Tracey, Kelly and Max to the ceremony. The other drivers and a couple of Lando's friends will be coming to the reception. That's all why are inviting. Nice and simple and private. Tracey and Zac are planning the reception."
"Well I'm excited for you." Flo smiles.
"Me too" Sav smiles
"Looks like I best find an outfit then" Cisca smiles. The 3 weeks fly by, all the preparations for the wedding are done, Lando has just got back from Australia a few days before. Tomorrow they finally say I do.
"The next time I see you, you will be Mrs Norris" Lando hugs her as he drops her and the babies off at Zac and Tracey's.
"I might not show up" Lottie jokes.
"I will hunt you down and force you to marry me" Lando playfully squeezes her.
"I suppose I could show up" She smirks back at home. " Having the same surname as my babies is a bonus"
"Oh so nothing to do with marrying this sexy man" He playfully flexes his muscles.
"Well I mean you are hot. Oh go on then I will marry you tomorrow" She stands on her tip toes, placing a kiss on his lips, a little bit of passion ignites and their tongues fight for attention.
"Alright you two, you will see each other tomorrow" Zac mumbles as he comes to the front door. They break from the kiss, smiling to the old man.
"I should go. Max, Ollie and my dad are coming around for some drinks" Lando places another kiss on her lips before stepping back.
"I love you" Lottie shouts.
"I love you more" she watches as he gets in his car and heads off down the road.
Lottie settled the babies in her house at the bottom of Zac and Tracey's estate. The open fire filling the room with warmth. She tucks in to a glass of red wine, just enjoying the silence before the chaos of tomorrow. A gentle knock at her front door, pulls her from her thoughts. She heads to the front door to see Jess, baby Margot and Hannah.
"What are you guys doing here?" Lottie looks to them confused as they come in.
"There is no way we were letting our girl spend her last night as a single woman on her own" Hannah smiles.
"Shush, you'll wake the babies" Lottie laughs.
"Speaking of babies. Hold Margot whilst I put up her Moses basket. I can then put her down for the night and we can get our drink on" Jess passes the baby to Lottie, heading upstairs with the babies things before heading back down. "I'll be back in 5" Jess heads upstairs to place the baby to sleep.
"How are you feeling Lou?" Hannah looks to Lottie.
"Surprisingly calm." Lottie lets out a breath.
"What did I miss?" Jess heads down grabbing freshly poured glass of champagne from Hannah.
"Just saying how calm I am about tomorrow" Lottie takes a sip of her drink the bubbles going to her head.
"I'm so happy for you Lou. I'm so glad we get to share this moment with you" Jess cuddles in to her friend.
"How about for old times sake we watch our favourite film?"
"Sounds perfect" Lottie smiles. The trio take a seat on the plush sofa in front of the fire and happily sit watching Bridesmaids. With the morning sun, Lottie and the babies head down for a morning feed. With their bellies full and with Hannah, Jess and Margot still sleeping, Lottie heads to the main house with the babies in their pushchair.
"Morning hunny. Are you ready for today?" Zac kisses her cheek as she enters the kitchen.
"I think so. I was just wondering, would you mind looking after these two whilst I go for a morning run?"
"Of course, that's not a problem. Everything ok?" Zac looks to her.
"Yes. Just need a run to get focused"
Lottie leaves the main house, heading on her run. Her headphones drowned the noise of the busy passing traffic and the spring breeze gently caressing her cheeks. She has one place she wants to run to, one place that will make it all seem sense. After a few miles she reaches the bridge, the bridge that could of been the last thing she saw all those years ago, but didn't. She takes a deep breath, watching as the traffic flows underneath, everyone in a rush to be somewhere with not a care in the world about their surroundings.
Lottie had woken up anxious. Never did she imagine all those years ago that someone would love her as much as Lando did. She had so much love for Lando and so much love for her new established family. She know longer felt like an imposter in her own life, she felt like she was where she was meant to be. Even through all the difficult times in her life, through all the hard work, through all the pain, through all the loss, she was still here and still fighting strong. She had a beautiful future to look forward to. Today would be the last time she visited the bridge, the need for it was no longer needed, she had everything she needed around her and that was enough. With those thoughts, she takes one last breath before beginning her run back home, less anxious but excited for the celebrations of love today.Arriving back home, everyone was awake, caterers and decorators were in and out of the main house. A makeup artist and hairstylist was helping getting Lottie ready. Tracey was taken care of the babies, everyone was full steam ahead.
"Lottie, you look beautiful" Her friends look at her as she heads down the stairs.
"Stop crying or you'll make me cry" She laughs back. They head up to the main house, where a car would be taking Tracey, the 3 babies, Hannah and Jess. Zac had decided that he would be driving Lottie to the Town Hall in his McLaren. Standing near the car, Lottie watches as Zac comes out the front door, seeing her in her dress for the first time. He swallows the lump in his throat and his eyes welling up.
"You look beautiful. I'm so honoured to be walking you down the aisle today" He comes over hugging her. "Lily would be so proud. I know she's with us today" He looks to the bouquet of Lilies that Lottie is holding and lets out a smile.
"Thanks Pops. I'm so honoured to have you in my life"
"Right enough of this emotional stuff, lets get you married" Zac laughs as he opens the door of the car.
