Twenty

Lando had visited Lottie everyday in hospital whilst she was there for 3 days. She had since been discharged and was resting at home in her and Lando's bed. He had left reluctantly that morning but Lottie and Cisca had insisted she would be ok. He left until last minute to leave and would be back on Monday which was only 5 nights away from Lottie.
Lottie had a lot of her energy back, she struggled to get around a little often having to take it slow as her stomach was still quite tender. The surgery for an appendix is usually quite small but due to the rupture and then the ectopic pregnancy they had no chance but to cut a 10cm incision in her stomach.
Lottie made her way downstairs slowly to the kitchen where Cisca was stood making some lunch.
"Oh honey, I was going to bring the food up to you" She turns to see Lottie slowly walking through the door.
"I've been in that room and bed for the last 3 days, I needed to see a different 4 walls" Lottie places a seat on one of the dining room chairs.
"How do you feel about some curried squash soup, I've picked up some fresh bread"
"That sounds lovely. Thank you Cisca. Thank you for been here"
"I wouldn't have it any other way Lottie, your part of our family now" She smiles at Lottie. They are interrupted by the intercom from the front gate.
"I'll get it" Lottie goes to get up from the chair.
"No you won't. I will deal with it. You stay here" Cisca rushes out the kitchen to the hallway. The smell of the soup was delicious, the house was spotless and a bunch of spring flowers sat on the dining table. Cisca had been brilliant the last couple of days she had cooked, cleaned, shopped for them and also taking care of Lando. Adam and the girls were coming tonight to stay for the weekend until Lando was back, they were all going to watch the race together.
Cisca returns with a huge bunch of peonies in her hands.
"These have just arrived for you Lottie" Cisca smiles placing them down on the kitchen island and handing her the card. Lottie then watches as Cisca leaves the room again and returns with a huge bunch of white roses. "These have also arrived for you" She places them down at the side of the other bunch and hands her a pink envelope.
"Wow, I wonder who they are from" Lottie looks at the card first.

"They're from Zac and Tracey, how lovely of him" She looks at Cisca and the peonies bunch sat on the worktop. She then moves on to the pink envelope, she opens it to see a Anniversary card, she opens it to read inside.

Charlotte Clark, where do I even begin. This has been the best year of my life having you by my side. One whole year of loving you unconditionally. You bring so much joy to my life. I'm so thankful that you are mine and that you said yes to been my girlfriend. I can't wait to spend many more years with you. Love you forever L x

Lottie wipes a tear away from her eye. She had forgot that it was her and Lando's first anniversary on Saturday. She had bought his present weeks ago and it was currently hidden at Jess' but it had dawned on her that they wouldn't be spending it together. "Who was it from honey?" Cisca comes and places her hand on her shoulder. "It was from Lando. It's our first anniversary on Saturday. I completely forgot. I've just realised we won't be spending it together" "I'm sure you can do something when he gets back" She pats Lottie's shoulder and then heads to the stove. She soon returns with the soup and bread.
