Mutation: it is the key to our evolution. It has enabled us to evolve from a single-celled organism into the dominant species on the planet. This process is slow, and normally taking thousands and thousands of years. But every few hundred millennia, evolution leaps forward.
I was born... different. I'm what's known as a mutant. You might think being a mutant is fun, I might have powers or something cool, and I do have powers, but they come at a cost. I have enhanced strength, stamina, durability, senses, speed, intelligence, agility, reflexes, dexterity, healing, longevity and I can maintain a pretty peak physical condition. However, I look weird. My feet look more ape-like than human. I also would be completely blue and hairy, with fangs and claws, but I'm learning to control how often that happens,
We had to move to a place in North Carolina called the Outer Banks. My dad died not long after I was born, and we haven't had much money since, so we moved out here. I was continuously bullied back home for how my feet looked, so when I heard we were moving I was thrilled. I decided not to tell anyone about my mutation here for fear of being bullied again. Not a lot of people believe me when I tell them I'm only 16, because my mutation has enhanced my muscles and height to make me look closer to something like 25.
When I got to school I made friends quickly with three guys called John B, JJ, and Pope. You see the island is split into two groups, the Kooks and the Pogues. We don't have a lot of money so I guess we'd call ourselves Pogues, along with the three guys. They later introduced me to their other friends, Kiara and Rebecca. The girls are Kooks but they hang out with us, not them. Not gonna lie, I quickly developed a crush on Kiara, I'm probably closest to her in the group, and we'd occasionally fall asleep next to each other at John B's Château if we end up staying there. But the Pogues have a rule of no Pogue on Pogue macking, so I'm just gonna have to get over it. Besides, she'd never feel the same.
None of them know about me, and for now I'd like to keep it that way. I'm not sure how they'd react to it, and I can't handle being hated or bullied again. It gets kind of awkward if they ever want to surf or swim or anything like that, because I'd have to take my shoes off and show them, so if they ever ask if I want to go I just say I can't do it and don't wanna learn. I can tell they think it's a bit weird but they don't push me on it which I'm grateful for.
It's been a year since I've come here and I don't regret it at all. It's summer now, so we're gonna enjoy ourselves.
This is just some background on the MC. I understand it may not seem great, but the actual story will not be from a first person POV, and I'd like to think I'm better at 3rd person.
This is my first fan fiction so I apologise if it's bad.
I know these two fandoms and worlds have nothing to do with each other, but I love them both, and I thought I could figure out a good way to merge the two.
Really hope you enjoy it.
