He ran. And ran. And ran. There was nothing else he could do. They hated him. They feared him. Kiara feared him. It wouldn't be long before Rafe and Topper told everyone, then not even the other Pogues would want him around.

He stopped running, only slightly out of breath, and dropped to his knees. He couldn't believe he'd let his emotions get the better of him. Now because Rafe was... Rafe. His secret was exposed. He was alone.

He punched the ground, in frustration, before letting out a load roar, in anger.

Unbeknownst to Y/N, a certain curly haired Pogue had heard this. "Y/N!?" She called out. She ran towards where the sound came from. She ran for quite a while, as Y/N had done the same.

Eventually she came to a clearing, and she saw her missing friend. He was knelt down on the ground. Tears slowly falling down his cheeks. She couldn't bare to see him like this. "Y/N?"

He snapped his head around to look at her. Kiara was stood there. Not looking at him in fear, but with sorrow. "What are you doing here?" He asked her.

"What do you mean 'what am I doing here?' you ran off, what was I supposed to do?" She retorted. "Leave me. Like everyone else did." He said quietly. Her heart broke at his words. This is why he didn't talk about his home. People found out and hated him.

"Look, just... go back to the others. You guys can start a 'We fear the freak club'. You'd get a lot of members." Y/N told her. She did move, but only to get closer to her furred friend. She sat down in front of him, causing him to look at the floor. He didn't want to see that look of fear from her, ever again.

"Y/N, can you please just look at me?" She asked him. His head didn't raise, however. "Why didn't you tell us."

"Because I was afraid!" He snapped at her, causing her to jump back. "Humans hate mutants. That's how it is. To you, we're just freaks, or threats, a problem. Something to get rid of." He took a breath. "Why do you think I don't talk about my old home? I was hated. People constantly made fun of me. My friends left me when they found out. They always just pushed me around, 'cause of how I looked. Then, the one time I tried to defend myself, I got suspended. The principal didn't even hear me out. He just sent me home." He looked back down.

"Then, I moved here. I thought it would be more of the same, so I hid it. Then I met you guys. That first day of school here was better than any day back home. You guys were so nice. I didn't want to ruin it. Then anytime you asked if I wanted to surf, I said no. So you wouldn't see these." He pointed at his ape-like feet. "I finally had close friends, I even developed feelings for someone. I had a normal life." He sighed.

"But once I saw Rafe throw you earlier, I just saw red. I didn't care that I was gonna turn. Because no one is gonna hurt you and get away with it. Not if I can help it." She smiled, and felt a slight heat rising to her cheeks, but quickly subdued it. This wasn't the time. "But now, I ruined it. You guys are afraid of me. You hate me."
