The Pogues had returned to school the next day, and were currently in the middle of a history test. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary until a man walked into the room in a suit. "Mr. Sunn, can I borrow Pope for a minute?" He asked.
"We're in the middle of a test right now."
"I'm from the Vanderhorst Foundation." He informed him. Mr. Sunn turned back towards the class. "Mr. Heyward, it's for you."
The others looked at Pope as he left the room and began talking to the man. He couldn't have been gone more than two minutes, when he stormed back into the room with a determined look. He took his seat in front of Kiara, who looked at him concerned. "What was that?"
Pope held up the envelope he had been given, with a wax stamp on the back of it. It was golden and had a small bunch of wheat in the middle of it. "Is that the wheat symbol?" Rebecca asked.
"What the fu-"
JJ stopped when he saw Mr. Sunn's questioning gaze fixed on him. "fu.. fu... fudge?" JJ finished, trying to save himself.

After the test, they quickly made their way to the library. "Is this a game of tag?" JJ asked the girls, as Pope had not said a word and was just leading them into the room. "Am I gonna have to beat you with your protractor? What's going on?" JJ asked, getting shushed by the librarian.
"Pope can you please explain why you seem to be freaking out right now?" Rebecca requested as she sat down in front of one of the computers. "Okay, so that guy was from the scholarship committee. Take a look at this." He said, holding out the envelope. "Read it." He ordered, as JJ took it from him.
"Out loud." Kiara reminded him. He looked up at them nervously. "I can't read cursive."
Kiara shook her head and took the letter from him. "Dear Mr. Heyward. I am reaching out because I have material evidence that can exonerate John B. Routledge and Y/N McCoy." She read out his name as a whisper. "It is of vital importance that you meet me at my offices at 27 King Street, Charleston at 8:00 p.m. sharp tonight. Please come alone. Regards, C. Limbrey."
She put the letter down as they took in this new information. "Charleston?" JJ questioned. "I know it's like an eight hour drive plus the ferry. How will we get there tonight?" Pope asked them.
"Yeah we'd have to leave right now." JJ concluded.
"I have a free period." Kiara announced. "Same here." Rebecca and Pope said in unison. "Material evidence. What does that even mean?" JJ asked them.
"It means he can clear John B and Y/N's names." Rebecca told him. "Oh shit, then we're going to Charleston!" JJ said quite loudly, getting the librarian's attention again.
"We gotta tell our parents." Rebecca said, gesturing to Kie. "And if we get it this time it's not going to Shoupe."
"Agreed." JJ said, as Pope began looking up this 'Limbrey' person. He came to a historical website and saw a man dressed in a sailors uniform.
"What is it?" Kiara asked him. "I'm not sure, but I think whoever this Limbrey person is.. might have been related to the captain of the 'Royal Merchant'."

"Baby, no, you cannot go to Charleston on a school night." Anna told Kiara as they talked about her plans on the patio. "But this is my chance to finally clear Y/N and John B's names." She countered.
