After what happened with JJ, Y/N decided he would go back home for a bit. He knew his mom wasn't working at this hour, and since he hadn't seen her since he stopped hiding, he wanted to. He reached his front door, and looked to see if he could spot her. At first glance he saw nothing, but went in. "Mom? You there?" He called out. "Kitchen." He got back.

Y/N followed the voice further into the house, to see his mother making a late lunch for herself. She turned to greet him, but stopped in her tracks. She wasn't expecting to see him be his true self. "You're not hiding?" She asked him.

He shook his head at her. "There was a fight at the movie night yesterday. Rafe started to hurt Kiara, I just lost it. So now he, Topper, and Kelce all know, and I don't think they'll keep quiet. Plus Kie kinda made me realise that it's better that I don't hide from them." He told his mother.

She smiled at him, before walking over and hugging him. "I'm happy that you're ok like this. I guess I'll have to thank Kiara the next time I see her." He laughed at that. "You might be seeing a lot more of her, we're together now." He said, a smile evident on his face.

Francesca squealed slightly at this information. She, once again, hugged her son. "I'm so glad you've found someone who accepts you, for you." She told him, relieved that her son was now happy in his own skin. He nodded into her shoulder. "Me too, mom."

Y/N was sat in his house when the realisation hit him. He had agreed to help Pope and his dad at Midsummers. He was up like a rocket to find a shirt and good trousers.

Once he was ready, and had said goodbye to his mom, he ran to where the party was. With his enhanced speed and stamina, he wasn't long getting there, and hadn't broke much of a sweat to ruin his clothes. He then transformed back into his more human form. A mutant working for Heyward would not have done wonders for the business.

He spotted Pope, with a shovel in his hands, looking upset. He walked over to him. "Hey, man." Pope looked around at him. "Sorry I'm late, I completely forgot I'd agreed I'd help, but, I'm here now, at you and your father's beck and call." He bowed to Pope, jokingly.

The Heyward boy let out a small chuckle at his friends antics. "Well I thank you for that, sir." He continued the joke. Y/N picked up on his downtrodden tone. "You ok?" He asked.

Pope let out a sigh. "My dad wants me to do better for myself, and find better friends." He told Y/N. "Look, JJ was trying to help. He knows you have more to lose than him. I get why you feel like shit, but you weren't gonna change JJ's mind once it was made up." Pope took slight solace in his friends words.

Y/N went down to pick up one of the containers of food, holding it on his shoulder with one arm supporting it. Pope looked at what he was doing. "You know normal people usually can't carry those around by themselves." He warned Y/N. He turned around and looked at Pope. "Anyone asks, say I'm on steroids." Pope laughed at this.

Pope, Y/N and Heyward were working on the barbecue. Pope had placed some meat on the grill while Y/N was making sure it didn't burn. Heyward was fanning some smoke out of the way. Pope turned to get more meat from the containers when he and Y/N heard a voice.

"Excuse me, sirs. Do we have to shuck these ourselves?" Kie asked, in a fake British accent. The two turned to face them. "'Cause we might mess up our costumes." Beca followed up in the same accent, trying, and failing, to hide her smile. Y/N ran to Kie and picked her up to hug her. They span in place before he put her back down. She laughed and kissed his cheek. "Missed you too."
