The trio continued to run away from the blaring sirens that indicated their pressing lack of safety. Sarah led them to a nice looking house, far enough away from the church to not arouse suspicion.
"We can hide out here." She informed the two boys. "You sure this place is empty?" John B questioned. "Yeah, it's Rose's listing."
They headed up to the door, and Sarah entered to code to open the key box.
"Let's check this street, they can't be far."
They looked over their shoulder and saw a police squad car park down the street. Sarah quickly opened the door and they all squeezed through it, closing it behind them. Sarah turned off her flash light, as a policeman walked up to the porch.
Sarah and John B huddled in the corner together, as Y/N stood on the other side of the doorframe, all of them keeping as quiet as they can. A light shone through the small window in the door, and the officer banged his hand on it. When no one opened the door, he promptly left and went back towards his colleagues.
"Let's go upstairs." Y/N led the other two up to one of the bedrooms on the second storey. Looking out the window, the group noticed Rafe and Kelce outside the house. "I can't believe that's my brother."
John B and Sarah moved towards a different bedroom, as Y/N stayed in the one facing the road. He knew he wasn't going to be sleeping tonight, and figured he could as least be a lookout for them. He sat on the bed and noticed a phone on the bedside table.
He was originally apprehensive, and wondered if the police could somehow trace the call to the house, but he needed to call her. He dialled the number on the phone, and held it to his ear.
"Hello?"
"Mom?" He struggled to keep in a sob as he heard his mother's voice for the first time in a few days.
"Y/N! Oh my god! Where are you?"
He slowed his breathing. His mother seemed panicked enough as it is, he didn't need to add to it. Having kept a brave face in front of everyone for this whole affair, he returned to doing that for his mother.
"I can't tell you. Are there officers at the house?" He asked her, hearing her staggered breath through the phone.
"There's two cars outside with officers in them. One of them will occasionally come in and check on the house. I really d-don't.. think you can come back here."
Y/N hung his head, and sighed. He knew he couldn't, even before she told him, but he wanted to see her before he inevitably had to leave. "Mom.. you-you know I-I didn't do it.. right?"
"How can you ask that?! Of course I know you wouldn't do that to her!"
"Ok.. ok. I'm sorry." The two sat in silence for a few moments, not sure what to say at this point. "We have a plan for me and John B to leave the island. I don't know if it'll work 'cause it relies on JJ being able to get a boat for us.. but we can't stay here."
Francesca stayed quiet for a bit, and Y/N gave her the time she needed. Having to let your son go away after being falsely accused of murder can't be an easy thing to grasp.
"I know you can't. I'm not letting you go to jail for something you didn't do. You have to do this, but it won't be easy for any of us."
"I know mom. Can you... can you be there for Kiara? She was trying to be level headed in front of everyone else but I know she'll need some comfort if all three of us have to leave." He asked of her.
"Three? Who's three?"
He now realised that no one knew Sarah was with theme. "Sorry. Sarah Cameron is with us. She's John B's girlfriend."
