"Please be careful today, my love. I don't want a repeat of yesterday so be aware of your surroundings. Observe people's body language and don't forget to pray when you feel something off in your gut." She tells me as she ties my hair into a sleek bun.

"Okay, I will." I say flipping the page of my newly started book, The Maddest Obsession by Danielle Lori.

"What are you reading?" She questions styling my edges, "The Maddest Obsession. After I'm done with this book i'll be reading the Shatter me series or A Good Girls Guide to Murder."

"Hm." She hums finishing up and spraying Got2b glue. "All done." She says and I drop my book down rushing to the mirror. I smile at my appearance. My darkskin glows under the sunrise. My mother comes in, "Beautiful." She poofs out the bun and my smile grows wider.

I believe what she says is true. But when I step out of the house, all that confidence feathers away.

"This is the last time we will be using Got2b on your hair. Give it a break for a few weeks, okay?" She says. "Yes." I respond walking out to get my book bag.

Today I'm wearing my brand new white New Balance sneakers. I'm pairing it with a white graphic tee and grey sweatpants. I apply on some mascara, highlight, and lipgloss.

"I think I'll walk to the bus stop today." I let my mom know as I grab yogurt from the fridge. "Okay. Be safe, I love you baby." She shouts from her bedroom, "I love you." I shout back.

I open the door and close it behind me. I breathe in the definitely not air polluted oxygen and walk down the driveway.

This is good exercise for me because I never workout.

As I approach the bus stop, I see Riley among her group of friends. I choose to not give them my satisfaction and climb into the bus. I guess this took them by surprise because they all came running before the bus doors closed.

I take my seat as Riley glared at me, her friends snickered at one another. There is no space left on the bus so they end up standing. I gaze at their outfits, extra short crop tops with mini cargo skirts.

Not to be a Karen but it's 9 in the morning... Why the heck are you dressing for a night out in the club?

A roll my eyes looking elsewhere. I didn't realize what I did until Riley spoke up, "Did you just rolls your eyes at me and my gals?" She questions with attitude laced on her tone.

I don't say anything apart from looking out the window and she scoffed in response, "And now she's ignoring me. Where'd all this sassiness come?"

"I don't know. I think it came from up your ass."

Her eyes widen and her friends laugh at my sly remark in disbelief. The bus comes to a stop near the campus so I get off with them trailing behind me, as usual.

I don't know where that confidence came from. I think it was from my mom hyping me up earlier for sure.

I sigh walking into a different class today, Psychology. I despise it but I don't hate it if that makes sense.

Opening the door, I make my way to my usual seat. Majority of the Football team is majoring in Psychology and half of the Basketball team as well.

"What's up Everyone." Mrs. Amy cheers. All she gets in return are "Wassup!" and sarcastic comments like "The ceiling."

"We are going to be focusing on Brain Neurology today so open up your textbooks!" She clasps her hands together. One thing about Mrs. Amy is that she's always joyful no matter what. She won't let a student nor colleagues negative comments get to her.

She simply just does her.

An irate student barges into class 25 minutes into the session.

Blake and Trevor walk into the room with nasty scratches on their arms and visible swelling on the sides of their faces. As the class ooos, Mrs. Amy quickly quiets them down.

Upon ascending the steps, Blake glares at me menacingly, which creeps the freak outta me.

"Where were you two?" Mrs. Amy folds her arms trying to hide in a laugh. "Boxing club." Trevor mumbled. "Boxing club?" Mrs. Amy's voice slightly raises and her head cocks to the side, "I'm afraid we don't have a Boxing club at campus, Trevor."

"Well there is one now." Blake stares at her with hooded eyes.

Mrs. Amy's expression turns from joyful to serious in a matter of seconds, "This is College boys, not Highschool. Straighten up your belts or you won't graduate this year." She points at them disappointedly and walks back to her seat.

"Damn." Leon, the team captain of the Basketball team mumbled.

"If I could beat girls, I would mess up her ass so bad." I catch Blake looking back at me through my peripheral vision. "Trust." Trevor shakes his head.

"Equal rights, equal fights. She said she wanted to fight me so I'm just waiting for her to bring it on." Blake shrugs. "I mean.. that phrase means I get to hit women, right?" Trevor says and Blake gives him a look I can't quite decipher.

Who are they talking about cause they better watch out.

If I had known, I would have warned them as soon as possible and instructed them to report it. The way he phrased that sentence is utterly offensive, and he should be punished.

I agree with "Equal rights, equal fights". Yes, obviously, a person who is being threatened with physical violence has the right to defend himself or herself with proportionate force.

Doesn't matter if your attacker is a man or a woman. If someone comes after you with intent to do you harm, then yeah, you get to use such force as is necessary to defend yourself.

If you respond to the idea of equality by saying "Woohoo! That means I get to hit women!", then brother, something is deeply wrong with you.

"Alright kids, lectures over." Mrs. Amy looks down at her watch. Students begin packing their bags, including me. Once I'm done, I descend the steps. As I am approaching the bottom of the stairs, I feel a hand forcefully push me down, and I fall toppling over a few of the steps until my ass hits the floor.

"Oh my!" Mrs. Amy rushes towards me. "Are you okay?" She questions looking at me in concern. "I think so?" I respond. I hear snickering behind me, I turn to see Blake and Trevor with smirks on their faces as they leave the classroom. "You aight?" Leon runs towards me, his dreads making slight movements as he puts his book bag down stooping to my level. "Yeah, I'm fine just go." I dismiss but he helps me up.

Thanks." I mumble. "Don't worry bout it." He flashes me his white smile while walking out of the class room.

Trevor never talks to me..

Trevor never talks to me
