I wake up with a smile on my face. Today is the date of my first date. Sixteen year old me would be geeking right now. I'm super excited to say the least.

I told my mom about it the minute I got home and she settled me onto the couch to give me another talk.

I laid out a bunch of outfits onto the bed. I want to wear a dress but I don't know—maybe it's too much?

I'm not a heel kind of girl. I love collection sneakers thought i'm not a sneaker head. "What did you pick?" My mom questions barging into my room. "This." I gesture my hand over the bed. She comes closer and smiles, "That is cute."

"Thank you." I cheer. It took me a while to figure out what I was going to wear. After receiving a notification for a text message, I unlock my phone.

I'm really going my first date with the Basketball captain. I've picked out what I'm going to wear, which my mother commented on. It took me a minute but I settled it nevertheless — A white graphic rhinestone crop top, black mini cargo skirt and panda dunks with white nike socks.

I know it doesn't fit the criteria you assume, which is because he's taking me to Chick-fil-a.

I had told him I'd never been there before and he thought it would be a good idea to take us there for my first time.

It didn't take long for five-o'clock to roll around the corner. "Mom, I'm heading out now." I tell her putting on my shoes, "Have fun. And make sure you take your pepper spray with you." She points at me and I nod.

I make my way to the door, "Call me when you get there, call me when you leave. You can never be too safe. Remember all the things I told you about the difference between how a boy and man act. Make sure he fits the criteria. Never set your standards too low, never be too easy, And never—" I cut her off "Ma, don't worry." I laugh.

She sucks in her teeth and fanned her hand in my direction motioning me to get out while she walks into the living room. I laughed at her dramatic attitude, "I love you." I drag out and she says it back settling back onto the couch.

I sigh walking down the driveway and I spot his car at a distance. He gets out and jogs towards me. "Wow, you look good." He breathes out roaming his eyes all over my body. Instead of it making me feel good, I felt iffy.

"Thank you." I said trying to be nice. He wrapped his hands around my waist and pulled me close. I sucked in a breathe while looking anywhere else but him. He sensed that I was uncomfortable and quickly removed his hands off of me. I gave him and awkwardly light tipped smile while walking to the passenger side of the car.

I got in while he made his way around to the drivers seat. I quickly remembered my mothers number one rule: If he doesn't open the car door for you on the first date. He isn't the one.

Well, then. Hopefully he doesn't break any other rules.

Let the night begin.
