You had to go back to school today. You normally didn't mind school- in fact, you kind of loved it. Yeah, people thought you were wierd- but you know, fuck them.

You shut the door behind you on your way out of the house and locked it. You walked to school every day since your parents had died.

You heard a car honk its horn and watched the world's worst chic clique zoom by in a red convertible. They threw a water bottle at you, the cap unscrewed. You were soaked- head to toe. You looked at your phone to see if you had time to go back and change. 7:31. Nope, you didn't. School started in 14 minutes, and you had a good 10 minute walk, then you had to get to class on time. Screw your late awakening skills.

You continued your morning stroll to school as the sun beat down on your soaked body.

"(Y/N)!"

You turned and saw Dave running down the sidewalk. He held out a hand, gasping for breath.
"(Y/N)..."

You smiled and decided to play along. "Loyal knight of mine, have you come to travel with thy Princess?"

"Indeed, I have, Princess," he breathed heavily. "I notice that some fiendish water sprites have quenched your royal attire."

"Yes, but I shall dry in the rays of thy sun," you replied.

Dave shook his head. "You're soaked, (Y/N). Here." Dave slid his red sweatshirt over his head, revealing a small band of skin just above his waistband. You tried not to blush. He placed the sweatshirt on your head and laughed softly as he pulled your arms through like you were a little kid. "There. All dry."

Your smile widened into a sheepish grin. "Thanks Dave." You kissed him softly and took his hand. Dave looked up.

You followed his gaze and saw the grey storm clouds begin to gather in the blue sky.

"I like when it rains," Dave said absentmindedly.

"Why?"

"Because I get to see my reflection."

"Wow. You are shallow," you whistled.

Dave punched you in the arm. "You must really love me, then."

"Oh, shut it, Strider."

---•--- TIME SKIP BY ARADIA

Dave and you walked hand in hand to math that morning. You remember getting weird looks and evil glares from some of the girls. But you honestly didn't care. Dave didn't even seem to notice.

"(BLAH BLAH BLAH I LOVE MATH) <Insert math lesson>," the teacher lectured. You were doodling again, not paying any attention. On your notes was a small chibi Dave with a little squiggle heart above his head.

"Uh, earth to Miss (L/N)," the teacher called. "Care to join us?"

You looked up, your entire face burning. Everyone laughed, but Dave, and you sat looking at the screen. "<insert answer to math question."

"Correct." The teacher squinted at me, giving me the death glare. Thankfully, I was saved by the bell.

"What was that, (L/N)?" Dave squeezed your hand.

Oh my gog, what were you going to tell him? "I was just spaced out, I guess," you lied.

"Oh come on." He gave you that look.

"Oh, fuck it. I was thinking about you." You looked down at your (F/C) converse and blushed.

"I am hot," he laughed. "And cool."

"How ironic," you said. His shades were crooked, and you reached up to straighten them out. "Go on, Strider, go get your art stuff."

Dave gave a sheepish grin and dashed off to his locker.

"Ugh, it's space girl!"

You turned, even though the insults were pathetic. A girl from the party, Vriska, stood behind you with her three friends.

"Lay off of David, okay?" She tilted her head.

"No- what? You didn't mind me at the party with Dave, but now-" you were definitely confused.

"I only pretended to like you, bitch. I couldn't make a show in front of Dan." She twirled her hair with a finger. Now it made sense.

"Just fuck off, okay?"

"What. Did you just say?" She turned.

"I said fuck off. Dave isn't yours, and he's not mine either. Dave belongs to Dave," you rambled, searching for the right words. "Just stay away from him."

Vriska was fuming. She lunged for your sketchbook and snagged it from your grip. "Hey!" You shouted and darted after it. "Give it back!"

Vriska flipped it open and pulled out a sketch of Dave- the one from art. Or at least, that's what you thought. You had drawn many pictures of Dave- curse your artist skills. You just had to draw everything that looked pretty. Vriska littered it on the floor and you screamed. She tore out countless pages before handing you your sketchbook back: two pieces of cardboard on a notebook binder (that spinning thing at the side of your notebook).

You ran the opposite direction, towards the library. There was a section barely anyone knew about. where you could be safe from the world. You had to go through the boring old encyclopedia section and then the newspaper section, then you were in the poetry section. You didn't know why, but the library kept magazines and newspapers that people could check out- and kept people out.

You sank to the ground and put your head in your heads. Tears streamed down your face, staining Dave's sleeves. You made no sound. It was a quiet, falling cry that made no sound. No one would hear you; no one would come to hug you.

You let out a quiet ragged sob. You pulled the red sweatshirt up to your nose and breathed in the apple scent. It smelled like Dave. More tears came and you tried to wipe them away when you heard a sudden voice.

"(Y/N)?"

Dave. You whispered his name as he came into the poetry section. His arms were full of drawings- your drawings- and his shades were crooked again. Dave saw you and immediately dropped all of the papers, running to hug you. He threw his shades aside, which revealed his blood red eyes.

"(Y/N)..." His mouth was already on yours and his hands were firmly pressed against your back. Tears still fell down your cheeks. Dave gently wiped them away. "Don't cry, please don't cry," he begged. "I don't know how to stop a girl from crying, so please don't cry."

You couldn't help but laugh through your tears. "Strider, you ass."

"Yeah yeah, I'm a really really shitty ass, but if we hurry, we can still make it before Ms. Hun takes attendance," Dave said calmly before turning to your pile of books. His red eyes searched your (E/C) ones. "Do you mind if I ask why?"

"I-" Your voice came out a ragged breath, so you took a deep breath and tried again. "Vriska told me-"

"It doesn't matter what she tells you. I love you, (Y/N), and don't ever forget it," Dave whispered. He took your hands in his warm ones. You relaxed.

Dave rolled up your sleeves, revealing the backs of your hands. He leaned over, and gently kissed each knuckle. Each kiss told you how much he cared- how much he loved you. 10 knuckles, 10 kisses.

Dave held your hands to his chest. "Never care what they tell you again," he told you. "Promise me."

You took a moment. "I promise."

Dave let out a breath. "That's a promise I intend you to keep, now, (L/N)."

You nodded slowly. "Thanks, Strider."

"Anytime."
