Reader's POV

Turns out, Condie and Droolie "didn't have enough money" to get you a tutor.

Lies.

Anyways, you have to go to school today. It's a Monday and you stayed up till 4:00 am last night because you were thinking. Thinking takes time, but it also takes your sleep.

"Are you almost ready, dear?" You heard Condie call.

You gave a yes in response and tied up your black converse (or vans. i know how some of you prefer them vans ;)) Condie had provided you with a hoodies and jeans instead of dresses to make up for not getting you a tutor. You were almost happy to be going to a school instead.

You were 'escorted' to school in a limousine, but had it park two blocks away and walked the rest. You had chosen a black hoodie, gray jeans, and black converse/vans. Your hair was hanging down your back/short and messy like it always was. You didn't want to stand out, but you didn't want to fit in, either. You wanted to hide.

You walked slowly to the office, your eyes looking towards the ground, your shoulders ready to push through a mass of people. The crowd in the hallway seemed to thin as it neared closer to the bell and eventually you were the only one left. You had gotten lost twice or thrice or quince and eventually a hall monitor spotted you.

"Hey, kid, what are you doing out of class? Do you have a signed hall pass?" The man asked. What I noticed first was how tall he was, then his long curly brown hair, his beard, and then his sweater vest, and finally his khakis. I decided he was gay and I was going to call him Jesus. (by the way, this is the guy that runs our GSA club at my school- he's pretty great lol! the sixth graders literally say "hail jesus" and bow down when he walks by. sometimes i feel bad :(

Dave would've laughed.

"No, I'm new, Sir," you answered quietly, but politely. "Do you know where I could find the office?"

Jesus led you to the office, going back the way you came and all the way to the other end of the school.
The school was tall, much like Jesus. It had three floors and stretched across a good amount of space. You couldn't believe that students somehow managed to get to class on time, much less find their class.

"Here's your schedule, Miss Scarlet," Jesus said, handing you a piece of paper. You looked down at it and studied it slowly, memorizing your classes, the numbers, and the teachers.

1) A- Biology, Smith, 420
    B- History, Wangerin, 415
2) Creative Writing, Shaw, 412
3) Lunch, Cafeteria
5) Calculus, Daley, 413
6) Reading, Shaw, 412
7) A- Art, Hegeman, 322
    B- P.E., Bolender, Gym
8) STAR, Daley, 413

The school had an alternating AB day system. If it was an A day, then you went to Biology and Art. If it was a B day, then you went to History and Physical Education. Every other class was the same on both days. Apparently they thought math and reading were more important than the arts and science. Lies.

You also got a locker. It was number 1103. It was tall, yet skinny, and had three hooks on the inside walls and a shelf on the top. You took out your notebooks and folders, arranged them in colored order on the shelf, and then hung your backpack on the hook.

Jesus had said that today was an A-day, so you had science. You plucked out your red folder and notebook, shoved them in a book bag you had brought, and followed the map on the back of the assignment notebook to room 420.

Turns out, it was right by your locker. You timidly reached out for the silver door handle. You rested your finger tips on it, then pushed down. The door wouldn't budge. It was locked!

Now, you were going to make a worse entrance. You knocked on the wooden door three times. You waited about 15 seconds for someone to open the door. The room was brighter than the hall and was lined with lab tables- or that's what you could tell from around the average sized girl in front of you.

Her hair was long; it reached to the tops of her thighs. It was dyed bright silver, contrasting against her warm honey brown eyes. She wore a red shirt with a big star on the chest... Adventure Time? Gravity Falls? No... Steven Universe! You recognized it as Steven's t-shirt and gave a small wave. Her smile was wide and welcoming, yet almost frightening due to her excitement.

"Hi, there!" She chirped, waving. "Who are you?"

"I-I'm new," you answered. "My name's (Y/N). Is this Smith's Biology class?"

"Yep! Mrs. Smith, a new student is here!" The girl peeked back over shoulder at you. "I'm Maddie, and I have a feeling that we'll be good friends."

Didn't reread this chapter... I'm sick, but I worked on this for you guys! Love you all!
