Tiffany's PoV
"Miss Astoria! Over here! Can you explain the cause of the incident to one of your construction sites?!"
"Miss Astoria! News Daily! Is it true that you neglected the worker's safety and chose to continue with the project regardless of warnings from the safety inspector?!"
"Miss Astoria! Over here! Please elaborate on the current situation of the workers that were hurt by the incident! Miss Astoria!"
I finally managed to enter the building while security warded off the reporters from entering. The safety inspector said nothing was wrong with the site, and the material used was up to standards. So how did the incident happen?
From what the worker said, they heard something explode before the metal beam suddenly fell from the ceiling. Luckily no one was hurt, but it's enough to cause such a scandal.
"Well, I'm sure you saw what happened outside. So, what are you going to do now?"
Blaire must have been facing the same trouble while getting to work today. I sighed as I sat on the sofa while Blaire poured herself a glass of water.
"What else can we do? We provide a detailed report and present it to those hungry vultures. It's best if we take action as soon as we can. Also, compensate the worker and their family accordingly. You should work together with the HR department on this matter."
Blaire nodded before placing a glass of water in front of me.
"Don't you think it's weird that someone targeted this project? Why do I feel like someone is messing with us? Some of our enemies may be finally losing their minds."
I sighed. There is a possibility but-
"Boss, you have to see channel five. Right now."
Janet entered my office and turned on the television. Why would the construction worker rally against me?
"What's all this? When did we ever hold their payment? Call the CFO over!"
I pinched the bridge of my nose while Blaire went through other channels. It seems everyone is making a ruckus over things I've done in recent years and beginning to question my ability to be the chairwoman. My father is going to kill me if he knows.
"This is nonsense! They're using old clips to slander you."
Blaire turned off the television just before her phone started to ring.
"I have to take this. I'll make an official statement as soon as everything is ready."
I waved my hands as I waited for the CFO.
"First of all, I have no idea what's going on. And we have never held the worker's payment like they claimed it to be."
The CFO immediately justifies himself.
"Then explained to me why they claimed such nonsense? Do you know what my father would do if he decided to get his hand dirty? We're going to die!"
I leaned back in my seat and thought of countermeasures.
"Damn it!"
I slammed my hands on my desk before grabbing my phone and informed my sister that I would be the one speaking to the reporters. There's no other choice but to fix this myself.
LATER THAT NIGHT,
After making an official statement, I stayed the night in the office instead of going home. I was doing my work when I heard someone knocking on my door. Who could that be? Everyone has gone home, and I'm sure I am alone now.
