Liliana's PoV
When I arrived at the clinic today, I was surprised by how fast the construction worker built two additional rooms for consultation. I didn't even know that Tiffany managed to buy out two of the shops besides the clinic.
When I asked Tiffany about the buyout, she said nothing. Instead, she asked if I wanted to go out for lunch today. I agreed so I could ask her about the future of the clinic. Because, at this point, I have no idea where it goes.
"Hey doc, there is a man here that asked for you. He looks dignified. Should I lead him to your office?"
I glance up before nodding my head. I didn't expect to see James, Tiffany's father, to be here.
"Mr. Astoria?! To what I owe this surprise."
James doesn't seem to like it when I call him Mister.
"How often do I have to tell you to call me dad? Or if you feel uncomfortable, call me James. Anyway, I'm here because I'm curious about your clinic. It seems the construction is doing well."
I smiled before removing a few files from a chair and offered him a seat.
"You need a bigger office and perhaps a few shelves to store your files. Maybe you need to hire an assistant, an accountant, and a lawyer to manage the office. Blaire has friends who work in social services as well. Since we're family, we should help one another."
I- I don't know what to say except thank the man.
"Do you want anything to drink?"
James hummed.
"Water is fine. Anyway, I'm here because I have something to say."
I offered him a bottle of water and took a seat on a chair.
"What is it? I hope it's nothing serious."
James smiled.
"To be honest, as a father, all I want for my children is to be happy with their choices. Blaire makes a mistake by marrying someone who only uses her for what she has. And you, Liliana, I think you're a good person. Tiffany is lucky to have you, but I'm worried my daughter would mess this up if I didn't intervene."
What? I am so confused.
"As you may know, Tiffany lives her life to the fullest. And because of that, people tend to take advantage of that. I'm sure you noticed what scandal she was in before our trip to Hawaii."
I nodded.
"Trust me when I say scandals and rumors follow her everywhere. But know that she is a good girl."
Um- I don't know where this conversation will go, and this is my chance to know more about Tiffany.
"I was curious about something. Whenever I ask Tiffany about her childhood, she often says in time, I'll know. I have no idea what she meant, but is it okay for me to ask about your daughter?"
James chuckled.
"What sort of things do you wish to know?"
This is such an opportunity.
"How many women did Tiffany bring home to meet her family? Has she always been gay? Am I good enough for your daughter?"
James chuckled.
"Not much, yes; she has always been gay, and that's why I'm here to figure it out."
Huh? What does he mean by he's here to figure it out?
"Tiffany has always been serious about her decision, and when she told us that she wanted to marry someone, we were surprised because Tiffany had never had such commitment in her relationship before. So we were curious about what sort of woman captured her attention. And when my wife and I met you, we were quite impressed by how you conducted yourself. And you have such a lovely mother and little sister."
