It was the day of the robbery, and John had spent the entire morning getting ready. He had his equipment with him, and he knew that he had to be careful.
He arrived at Palazzo Ducale and walked around the premises, observing everything around him. He had studied the building's layout carefully and knew the best way to get in and out unnoticed.
As he approached the main entrance, John saw that there were several guards and security personnel on duty. He knew that he had to act fast before anyone became suspicious.
He took out his equipment and began to work on the lock. It took a few minutes, but he managed to open the door without making a sound. He crept inside and made his way to the exhibition hall where the diamond was being kept.
Once inside, John's heart was racing. He knew that he had to be quick and precise. He used his tools to bypass the security system and reached the display case where the diamond was kept.
He opened the case and took out the diamond. It was a stunning sight to behold, and John couldn't help but admire it for a few moments before placing it in his bag.
As he turned to leave, he heard footsteps approaching. He knew that he had to move fast. He made his way towards the exit, and just as he was about to leave, he heard someone call out.
"Stop right there!"
John turned around to see a guard approaching him. He knew that he had to act fast, so he took out his stun gun and incapacitated the guard.
He ran towards the exit, and just as he was about to leave, he heard another guard shouting. John didn't hesitate and quickly made his escape.
Once outside, John took a deep breath and looked around. He had done it. He had managed to steal the diamond, and no one had caught him.
He made his way back to his hotel room and locked the door behind him. He took out the diamond from his bag and admired it for a few moments before packing it away.
John knew that he had to leave Venice as soon as possible. He had accomplished his mission, and now he had to make his escape.
But first he needed to meet up with Carlo at the bar.
John sat at the dimly lit bar, waiting for Carlo to arrive. He had been hesitant to meet with his enemy, but the promise of information possibly about the stolen Mona Lisa had piqued his interest.
As he sipped his drink, John noticed a figure walking towards him. It was Carlo, his face partially obscured by the shadows. John tensed as Carlo took a seat next to him.
"Hello, John," Carlo said, his voice low and dangerous. "I have some information that may interest you."
John raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "What kind of information?"
Carlo leaned in closer. "The Mona Lisa that I stole? It's not in my possession anymore. It's been sold to a private collector in Spain. I don't know who the buyer is, but I do know that they have a particular interest in rare and valuable art."
John's interest was piqued. "And why are you telling me this?"
Carlo smirked. "Because I know you have a vested interest in finding that painting, and I have a feeling that our mutual friend Max Brown does as well. He may be willing to pay a pretty penny to get his hands on it."
John narrowed his eyes. "What makes you think Max Brown is involved in this?"
Carlo shrugged. "I don't have any concrete evidence, but let's just say that he and I have crossed paths before. He's got a reputation for collecting rare and valuable items, and the Mona Lisa certainly fits the bill."
