-CHAPTER SEVENTEEN: Awakenings-

A/N: hey, sorry for not having any new stories lately. I was very busy with other stuff. 

But I have this lil quick chapter....(heads-up: there's gonna be some MayZuke moments here-)

It was so tender, so soft.

The way he held me....it felt like I was being held by my father.

Zuke had his arms around my waist. His scarlet orbs gazed softly into mine.

"May," Zuke said, his deep voice tickling my eardrums. "There's been something on my mind I've been waiting to tell you."

"Yes?" I asked, my eyes getting big.

Zuke brushed my cheek with his thumb. "I love you, May."

I flinched awake in my bed. I saw that Spot was already awake.

"Meowstress," Spot mewed. "Why were you squirming in your sleep, meow?"

I reclined on my elbows. "I dunno, Spot. I had a very weird dream."

"Oh? Well, what happened meow?"

I hesitated. As much as I would like to tell Spot about my dream, I also worried if Zuke would hear it.

Maybe if I whisper he wouldn't.

I got real close to Spot's ear. "I dreamt that Zuke told me he loved me."

Spot's eyes widened. "Wow! I gotta tell—"

I clasped my hand over his mouth to shut him up. "Shh! You might wake up Zuke!" I whisper shouted.

"Now, promise me you won't tell him?" Spot nodded.

"Good. Now, go and make breakfast for us please. I'm not in the mood to get up right now."

As Spot climbed down the bunk bed, I began to lay down on my side and ponder.

What the hell was my dream all about?

Does Zuke like me in that way?

Did he have a dream similar to mine?

I don't know.

At least it was better than seeing that abominable golden serpent torturing me in my dreams.
