Diluc wished his time with Jean lasted longer, but just as they were about to hug, they could hear an explosion. Diluc was the first one to arrive at the gates of Mondtstadt, to see tons of hilichurls, abyss mages, and even abyss heralds. They were being serious, and they definitely weren't kidding with their letter. Panic struck the people, while Kaeya and Lisa tried to calm them down. The other knights hadn't been as fast as Diluc, but one other person was right behind him.

"Do you plan on just standing there, or do you want to attack them? Hm?" He heard a familiar voice say, and when he turned, he met the eyes of Rosaria, who just gave him a simple shrug. "If you wont, then I will." She spoke, and he just chuckled. "I'm working on it." He said, before he grabbed onto his claymore, and began slaying the monsters one by one, while Rosaria took another side, so they wouldn't bump into each other. There just seemed to arrive more and more monsters as they slashed the others. Finally, they backed away and returned to the city gates, as it seemed like the monsters didn't catch up as fast as they did. They returned to Kaeya and Lisa who had came back to help them. Lisa and Rosaria then went on to fight the monsters again, while Kaeya and Diluc had a quick chat. "This was what they meant in the letter, but where is that so called 'prince' they were talking about?" Kaeya thought, but none of them seemed to have an answer. Soon enough, Fischl, Bennett, Razor and Lumine arrived at the scene, and helped Lisa with her fighting, while Rosaria took out a couple of Abyss Heralds on her own. Eventually, Kaeya went to join them as Diluc took a small break to make sure he had everything he needed to clear out these creatures. "I can fight too!" He heard a familiar voice, and noticed Jean was in her knight clothes and had taken off the bandages. "Jean, no, you can't!" Diluc yelled at her, but she just shook her head. "Please, I need to defend Mondstadt with you all!" "Jean, now is not the time to-" He heard another explosion, and when he turned, he saw someone standing there, not a monster, but a human. It all went silent, until Lumine spoke in front of them. "Aether?" She didn't seem as surprised at the others. Her brother? The prince? There was no way... "Sister, please step aside, tell your friends to step aside as well.." Aether spoke, but Lumine just shook her head. "No! I cant let you destroy Mondstadt!" She yelled at him, and that was when Aether sent the monsters after the knights while the twins went into a sword duel.

"You can't stay here, Jean, you have to go back!" Diluc panicked, holding her shoulders. "No, I'll be fine, I swear!" Jean said back, but Diluc just shook his head. "No, can't you see? You're already hurt, I can't lose anyone else!" Diluc yelled, and it made some of the knights turn, like Lisa and Kaeya. Jean just stood there, before she went ahead and ran forward, slashing her sword against the monsters. God, she was so stupid, but Diluc couldn't do anything to stop her, so he just followed along. He noticed an abyss herald that was fleeing, and decided to chase it. The abyss herald ran all the way to windrise, where he first noticed Diluc, and began fighting him.
