Grace woke up with a start to someone banging on the door.

"Grace? We're all going to be late if you don't come out soon." One of her roommates said. 

Oh shit. Shit, shit, shit.

She immediately got out of the bath, almost slipping and falling to the floor. She dried herself, and used her wand to quickly dry her hair slightly, but not completely, so it was still a bit damp.

She put on her robes, glasses, and shoes then opened the door.

"Sorry, I guess I lost track of time" Grace smiled sheepishly.

Her roommate, Cleo, was waiting outside the door still in her pajamas. Her blond hair was tied in a loose ponytail, and she did not look happy.

"You really need a watch you know?" She said with a serious face before smiling. "You're forgiven. Just take care next time, okay?"

"Got it" Grace nodded.

Grace packed her bag as Cleo went to shower and get ready for the day. Dorcas woke up five minutes later grumpy. She was not a morning person.

Even though Dorcas was a year above her they shared a dorm along with Cleo - who was in the same year as Grace.

Somehow Dorcas had managed to convince their head of house, Pomona Sprout, to let her share a dorm with Grace. Professor sprout, having a soft spot for the two girls, gladly agreed.

Dorcas immediately noticed the way Grace winced everytime she bent down or moved too much.

"Hey are you okay?" She asked with concern. "Did you get hurt or something? I swear to Merlin if it was because of Black-"

"No" Grace immediately interrupted. "No it wasn't because of Black. I just...I just slipped and hit my back while I was on a walk last night."

It wasn't a total lie, just not the full truth. Grace didn't know why she was lying to her best friend. Maybe it was because she herself didn't know who those people were and what they were doing, and she didn't want to worry anyone. At least that was what she was telling herself.

"Well, do you need to go to madam Pomfrey?" Her friend asked.

"No I'll be fine" She smiled.

Dorcas was hesitant but nodded before getting up to get ready for the day.

The two girls decided to sit at the Gryffindor table today. But the minute they sat down Grace had a bad feeling that something was not okay. She immediately looked around and noticed that Remus wasn't there, and neither was Sirius. James and Peter both were looking down and playing with their food refusing to even look at them.

"Hey guys" She said. "Is everything okay?"

Silence. No response from either of them which was strange because they were always talking.

"Where's Remus and Sirius?" Again no response.

Dorcas snapped her finger in front of the two boys. Both of them flinched and looked up with friends on their faces.

"Okay what's wrong with you two bozos?" Dorcas asked.

"Nothing, nothing we're fine" James said.

"That's totally believable" Grace said. "What's wrong? And where are Remus and Sirius?"

"Um" Peter started. The two boys looked at each other as if they were having a silent conversation with their eyes before continuing again.

"Moony is....in the hospital wing with Poppy, and Sirius...." Peter said still hesitant and he looked like he was about to break down right there and then.

"Sirius is in our dorm" James finished after noting the look on his friends face.

Grace wasn't stupid. She knew something was going on, and that they were hiding something she just needed to find out what.

"Why is he in the hospital wing? And why isn't Sirius here?" Dorcas continued to interrogate them.

"Don't worry about it" James said before getting up and walked out.

"Sorry" Peter said before running after his friend.

The girls sat there confused. They were behaving differently. Something was wrong. Grace got up murmuring a quick "I'll be back" before rushing to the hospital wing.

When she got there she was met with Madam Pomfrey.

"Is Remus here?" She asked worried.

"Yes he is but I don't think he wants visitors right now"

She nodded and walked past the healer towards the only bed that was covered with a curtain. She ignored Pomfrey's protests and pushed the curtains out of the way only to be met with a very scarred Remus.

She knew he had scars, and she never asked where he got them from because she could tell it was a sensitive topic, but these ones seemed new and fresh.

"Remus" She gasped. It looked like he was crying too, and all the young Hufflepuff wanted was to give him a hug.

"Go away" He said looking away and trying to hide himself but immediately wincing.

Without a word she sat next to his laying form taking his hand in hers, and reaching for a book that was on the table next to the bed. She opened it to where the bookmark was and started reading out loud. Pomfrey smiled at the two deciding she would let the girl stay for now.

Remus also smiled, grateful that she didn't question him, and just listened to her read before falling asleep. When Grace noticed that he fell asleep she put the bookmark back in the book putting it on the table before getting up. She kissed his forehead, and walked out.

Then, she went to the Gryffindor common room to see her brother. She needed answers, and she didn't like that her brother was keeping secrets from her.

She walked into their dorm and noticed that James was trying to get Sirius off his bed while Peter cleaned up the room a bit. The minute they heard the door they froze.

"Grace now is not the time okay." James said.

"No I want to know what's going on. I just saw Remus, and he is in horrible condition. He was crying too, so what in Merlin's name happend with you four?" She said slightly raising her voice towards the end.

Sirius got up and without a word went to the washroom slamming the door behind him.

"Great" Peter muttered.

"Look Gracie, Pete and I have it handled alright? Just go back to whatever book you're reading at the moment or hang out with the girls or something just get out ok?"

"No" She didn't want to leave. She just wanted to know what was going on. Grace and James then started to argue. James calling her nosy and Grace accusing him of hiding stuff and lying to her.

"Enough" Peter shouted banging a book on the table. That immediately shut them up. He signed. "Look Remus and Sirius just had a fight. Everything is fine they'll be back to normal in no time"

Even with Peters reassurance she didn't believe it, but she just shook her head and left after muttering an angry, "fine". She also made sure to slam the door on her way out.
