It was now winter break as Grace stood at the platform with James and Sirius to board the train so they could go home. But she couldn't. Not just yet. After hers and Regulus' arguement about him coming to live with her, they hadn't talked as much and he had been avoiding her. That was a week ago. She had to see him one last time before they left."Hey, you okay?" James asked his younger sister, confusion and worry etched on his face. Sirius was the same. Both of her brothers looked at her with worry visible on their faces.
"Was it the fight with Regulus? He still hasn't agreed?" The oldest of the three asked.
Grace just shook her head at Sirius' questions. Before much more could be said, Remus and Peter were making their way towards the trio.
They five teenagers greeted each other and talked for a few minutes.
"I'm going to go find the girls." Grace said and waved goodbye to the marauders before searching the platform for her friends.
"Grace!" A blond girl yelled across the platform and ran towards the young raven haired girl.
"Pandora!" Grace said and immediately hugged the blonde when she reached her. The two had gotten a lot closer after Regulus introduced them to each other. They had been hanging out for the last few months and became good friends.
"I'm so sorry! Regulus can be like that sometimes but I talked to him. He gave me this to give to you." Pandora said as she handed Grace a yellow paper crane. Grace smiled, she would've known it was from him without Pandora even having to tell her. He always sends her yellow tulips and gives notes in the form of paper cranes.
Meet me at our place as soon as you get this.

Grace hugged Pandora one last time and rushed to the library. Behind the shelves at the back was Regulus. His hands tucked into his jeans as he leaned against a bookshelf while looking out the window. He looked deep in thought but when he heard Grace's footsteps, he looked up and smiled at her.
"Hey there, mon âme." He whispered softly once she was right in front of him.
"Hi." She whispered back but made no move to reach for him. Noticing this, Regulus sighed and pulled her into his arms, leaving a soft lingering kiss on the top of her head.
"I love you, Mon âme. Just know that." He whispered while holding her close to him.
"I love you too." She replied in a whisper as well.
He hesitated a moment before continuing. "Just don't hate me if something happens, yeah?"
"What? What're you talking about?" Grace asked, pulling away slightly to look at him worriedly. "Reg? Is something going to happen?"
"I'm not sure yet." He said quietly and just looked at her with a sad look in his eyes. But other than that, his face was stoic of emotion.
She wanted to cry but she refrained, not wanting to appear weak. Instead, she let out a shaky breath and just met his eyes.
"Come back to Hogwarts alive and well, yeah? Do it for me." She said to him, almost pleadingly.
He didn't respond. He just hugged her and held her close until they had to go their separate ways. A tear fell down his cheek as he buried his face into her soft black curls. She smelled like flowers. He loved the smell of her. He discreetly wiped it before she could notice and finally gave her one last kiss as a temporary goodbye.
"I love you sweetheart. So much." He whispered as he watched her a few hours later, smiling with her parents, James and Sirius. James and Sirius still hadn't completely warmed up to the idea of Grace dating Regulus but they didn't do anything for the sake of Grace and Lily. His small smile dropped the moment he noticed his parents arrive, waiting for him. He cleared his throat and walked towards them with his things.
"Mother. Father." Regulus nodded in their direction as he kept his face void of any emotion. Just like his mother taught him.
"Did you do it?" His mother asked. No greeting, no nod of acknowledgement, no nothing. She went straight to the point.
"Yes, mother. I did." He said, meeting her piercing gaze. His mother glanced at Gracie and sneered.
"And yet I see her smiling." She scowled at her son, glaring daggers into him.
"That's just how she is. She masks her pain and showcases a happy girl to the world. That's a fake smile." He said and he was right. Her smile was fake, but he wished that it wasn't.
His mother finally nodded as she took in her son's appearance, searching him to find some sign that he's lying, but she couldn't.
"Good." She simply said and the Black family trio made their way home. Regulus didn't risk glancing at her again, not even when he felt her eyes on him. He couldn't risk getting her hurt.
Grace watched in sadness as the boy she loved walked away without so much as a glance in her direction. However, she knew better. He was with his parents. He would put a fake facade in front of them. He was an actor and sadly... He was always employed. Always working to mask his emotion and show this fake persona to the world.
That is... unless he was with her. The only time, in his whole life, that he could remember, he was only his true self with her. Even around his friends who he loved dearly, he never fully opened up. Not once. But somehow, a shy Hufflepuff girl had managed to break down his walls, that he spent years putting up, and made him fall for her, hard.
He couldn't really complain. He loved her. There was no escaping that reality. He would do anything for her and vice versa.
They were just meant to be. If not this universe or life, then maybe in another.
