"This will work. It has to. You're the only one who can do this. Please, Dora." Regulus said to his friend in a hushed whisper in the Room Of Requirements. He knew how Pandora knew a lot about dark magic and loved creating knew spells. He had full faith the the pretty blonde in front of him would be the only one who'd even have a chance at helping him end this once and for all.

"Regulus it's risky. The amount of things that can go wrong-" She started with a frown, worry evident in her voice as she looked up at the desperate boy.

"It will work." The boy insisted, cutting off her protests when she tried to point out what could go wrong. "This needs to end and you know it too. This is the only way. No matter what happens, it needs to be destroyed. He won't stop otherwise."

Regulus was desperate in his search for destroying the hocrux he was planning on stealing from the Dark Lord himself when he went into the cave. However, he had come up empty more times than he'd like to admit. Pandora Lestrange was the only one who could even stand a chance at destroying the locket that would hopefully lead to the downfall of Voldemort.

Pandora sighed and considered it. She could work on creating a spell strong enough to destroy it; however, it would take time. Time that she wasn't sure they had. "How can you be sure? Reg, if something happens, you will never come back. And if I can't destroy it like you think I can, it will only lead to more problems." She tried to reason with the stubborn boy in front of her but he still refused to give in.

"I need you to try. Grace is already going through a lot and if I could just do this one good thing, we could run. Far away from here and this cursed world that we were born into. You could leave and finally be with Lovegood like you want." Pandora detected the sadness and desperation in his tone and words as he spoke. She realised that no matter what, he wouldn't give up. With or without his help. He'd rather end up dead than accept the fact that maybe they couldn't bring down Voldemort like he so desperately believed they could.

"Okay..." She slowly relented, deciding to at least try for his sake. Pandora didn't want him to go through this alone. He had Grace, of course. But she knew that he wouldn't take her into the cave with him. He had a spell ready if she forced her way in.

He had asked her a few months back to create a protection spell strong enough to protect the Potter girl and even a potion that would ensure her safety. Pandora had tried to tell him that he should take his own precautions but he reasoned that if he had any protection charms or potions on him, then he wouldn't be able to get the locket that he was trying to get. Something about curses on the hocrux and the fact that Voldemort was not someone who would leave a part of his soul unprotected. Literally.

"Okay?" He asked slowly, unsure if he heard right but slightly hopeful.

"Okay." She said more firmly and nodded. "I'll do it."

Grace was with Regulus in his dorm, drinking some tea. Her eyes were puffy and red from all the crying. She had cried so hard that her head hurt. But she was grateful that Regulus was there for her. No matter how much she tried to push him away and distance herself, he remained patient and refused to leave her side.

She was glad that she had him and James had Lily. The siblings rarely left each others side now and when they did, they stayed with Regulus and Lily. Sometimes their other friends, but only if their significant other was around. Around three months after the death of their parents, the siblings made it their mission to go back to how they were and focus on school. Especially since James had his Newts that he had to take so he could become an Auror.

And Grace tried her best to study - with Regulus' help - so she could prepare for her tests and become a magizoologist just like she's always wanted. At the end of her sixth year, and James' final year, the children were at the train station.

"I'm scared." Grace whispered, holding onto her older brother's hand as they waited for the train to arrive.

"Me too, Gracie. Me too." He replied, giving her hand a reassuring squeeze. He was just as scared as his younger sister. They were on their own now. Them and Sirius. Luckily for them, the Pettigrews had agreed to take them in until James turned eighteen and became an Auror so he could take care of himself and his sister.

So when Sirius, Peter and Remus arrived, they plastered on their signature Potter smile, pretending that everything was okay. When that was far from true. Soon enough, Peter's parents were waiting for them and took the four children - Peter, Sirius, James and Grace - home.

They stayed their all summer long, in the care of the Pettigrews. Safe from the outside world and from Voldemort himself. They were forever greatful to them for being there and taking them in when they had no one else.
