When Christina woke up the next morning Charles was gone. It was better this way for her anyway. It got her out of the awkward conversations she'd finally had to have with him.

She avoided him all day that Saturday. Even more than before. She tried desperately to stay away from him on Sunday too.

But not everything goes as planned.

"Good morning, Christina" Mattia greeted the girl as she entered the Ferrari motorhome.

"Good morning Mattia. Have you seen Carlos? I need to show him the results from yesterday's photoshoot"

Mattia said that the driver would probably be in his room, getting ready for the big day. After listening to his directions, Christina walked further in the building in search of Carlos.

It was the Spaniard's home race and although it wasn't Ferrari's weekend, Christina had a photoshoot with Carlos to promote this race's merch.

She knocked a couple times on the door of the driver's room but got no answer. Christina pulled her phone out of her pocket and dialed Carlos' number for the third time that day when she felt a pair of arms wrapping around her.

Christina didn't really realize how it happened but she found herself against the wall, in a foreign room, and her phone was snatched out of her hand.

Her chest was moving up down matching the rhythm of her fast shaky breaths as her eyes met a pair of green ones.

Charles ended the call, holding her phone in one hand and having the other placed on the girl's waist, keeping her against the wall. His eyes glued on hers as he stood close, noses almost touching.

"You've been avoiding me" he said lowly as he let his gaze travel from her eyes to her lips and back up. Thinking that choosing such an intimate position to talk with her was probably a bad idea but not backing off nevertheless.

"More than usual"

Christina took a minute to reply. She looked into his eyes trying to read him. Charles had gotten pole yesterday, he should look happy and excited. Yet the only thing she could see in his look was frustration, anger and sadness.

"I'm not avoiding you. I was just busy with work you weren't included in. Now if you don't mind" Christina moved to get her phone from his hands, attempting to free herself from his grip.

But Charles really wasn't having it. Not only did he keep her phone away but he also tightened his hold on her, so she wouldn't leave, pushing her again against the wall.

"You didn't visit before the qualifying to say good luck, neither congratulated me after. Not a call, not even a text" Charles exclaimed.

"If you want someone to do all that for you, Leclerc, you should call Charlotte" Christina replied harshly. "I don't want Charlotte, I want you" Charles admitted, making her chuckled. "It's a little too late for that"

"You never let me explain" he said looking into her eyes, his face even closer than before. "What is there to explain?" Christina asked. "You kissed her, she kissed you and the rest is history"

But that wasn't true. Christina herself knew that this was not how things happened but she wouldn't let him explain that. It was better this way. It was better that this happened so early and she wasn't so attached to him. It would hurt less to stay away from him.

What happened was jus the perfect excuse for Christina to push him away again. To let her fears win her over and prevent her from beginning something serious with Charles.

"Your actions made it clear what is it that you want, Charles. Just let it go" Christina sighed. She was sad, truly. When everything started, she had hope that things could work out. But the back and forth wasn't what they signed for. It frustrated the both of them.
